Guest guest
We are in the dark ages over here. The specialist told me that xolair is going to be discontinued in Canada because people who use it are dropping dead. I lost it at that point. He backed up and said " there has been a few deaths worldwide " . Big difference doc between that and " people are dropping dead from it " . Anyway, I did my own research and its not being discontinued. I don't get why Canada is so conservative. But I am pretty frustrated right now. Do they only cover certain drugs and not others? Do they cover xolair but make the patient pay part of the cost because of how expensive it is? Just wondering, Doug
Guest guest
This is pretty scary as there is a push in the US to go the way of Canada's health system. I am not one to get involved politically, but a single payer system may result in similar circumstances for all of us. Guest guest
No. I don't think its the payer system. Canada is historically cautious with EVERYTHING. If there is even a question about it, the answer is NO. Are you enrolled in xhale? (Its the canadian version of xpansions). I got copay assistance up to 20% of the cost of the drug. 1-866-9xolair C ________________________________ From: " sheilabiss@... Guest guest
I use heathwell and have insurance. It would be worth looking into. I am very concerned about the same thing happening to all of us that are on Medicare. I did read on another xolair site about healthwell foundation. There were people posting who had gotten help, but it seemed to be for people with minimal insurance. I know Medicare limits the amount that can be charged - perhaps you could get a supplemental policy to cover the rest. Do you get your shots in the hospital? Hope you are able to work this all out!! They told me it's against federal law to offer it to anyone on any type of Medicare product, effectively exclusing assistance to anyone over 65 who is a U.S. citizen. > Thanks for all your help over the years. > Carol >
