Guest guest
, I do my shots at home. When my dr. closed the office close to my home the nurses taught my husband how to mix the shots and how to give them to me. We have been doing them at home for about 5 years now. When I order my Xolair, I tell them that I " brown bag it " and that is fine with them. Brown bagging means that you take the meds to the dr. office and let them do the shots. I could not pay the copays. The debit card should cover any expense related to Xolair. The care will have $4000 on it and my copays for the drugs are only $100 every three months. I would ask anyway. I googled the makers of all my drugs adn now I am getting applications in the mail everyday. All the name brand drugs have patient assistance programs. Guest guest
Do all companies have different criteria? I take some generic one but I also take several that are name brand. Guest guest
I think every doctor has there own opinion. My pulm won't even let me get mine in his office. I have to go to the hospital's infusion center. Mine won't consider it. I keep getting told that the FDA won't let me and I know that's not true. As we've seen in this group, everyone's doctor is interpreting the guidelines differently. It's so frustrating to me. I would love to give myself Xolair. If I get anymore sensitive to scents, I might not be able to go to the office for them anyway. There are two dental offices that I have to walk by to get to the elevator and those smells just tick my lungs off. Then, despite the fact that there are signs up saying " This is a scent free office " , someone always shows up perfumed. > > , I do my shots at home. Guest guest
Doug, would this be kind of like the look of horror on your face when I told you that I self injected, back we we were all in NM! LOL!! I miss those days! For the first year I was on Xolair my Pulmo did the injections. Then he and his nurse taught me how to self inject. It was great. I even had one of those little mixing things Novartis/Genetec supplied to the doctors. I self injected for almost 4 years before I started having to get them done at my allergists office due to that FDA warning. No dice First time I asked him he and his nurse had a look of extreme horror, disbelief and shock on their faces LOL Doug
Guest guest
beth, I just did. The dr. was closing the office where I went for shots and they brought my husband and me in at different times and taught us how to do it. I heard one of the nurses say that a lady that was bringing her son in was going to start to do the ingections at home because she could not afford the trip to the office nor the copay for each visit so they taught her too. It is very simple. I have an epi pen near by just in case I need it but I have never needed it. Guest guest
They all have some kind of assistance available. It is not based on low income status either. Some of them will give you the information online and some want your doctor to fill out forms too. It is worth it in the end. A few of mine are going to be free. I looked on each bottle to see who makes the drugs. I looked the companies up on the Internet and looked for patient assistance programs. You would be surprised.
