Guest guest
This is an update, in case anyone was really interested. As the weather is getting milder and less intense, I have been feeling less pain and it's now more manageable! It's been a very rough winter. My supervisor is letting me take a couple of days off later this week to help regenerate myself, even though I had taken a lot of days off this winter. I will be going to the doctor's on my days off and getting a prescription for a scooter or power wheelchair. Also I have an phone appointment to get the process started for an evaluation on my needs in terms of a mobility device. I will be making an appointment with Vocational Rehabilitation to see about getting a scooter lift for the trunk of my car. HOPEFULLY I won't need to trade it in for a mini-van at this point. I know there are several options and my co-workers and I have been exploring various lifts and scooters/power chairs. Later on I am going to be looking for a new place to live that is cost effective and a place that can be made accessible if needed. Preferably where I can just have a ramp added on. But I have to get permission from the landlord even though I can see about having VR pay for it. My mother is going to meet with me on Sunday to talk about setting up work in my home. She knows of a couple of home-businesses that are legitimate so I can earn some additional income. I want to prolong the need to apply for Disability benefits for as long as possible. As other people have said, if I have a scooter to make it easier to get around, I will not be adding that much stress to my body and hopefully won't feel exhausted and in pain as much. Thank you everyone for your encouraging words and suggestions. I don't want to have to think about " when would it be time to stop working " …that's a scary thought for me right now! ~ a > > > > > > Basically, if your career and job is > > turning into a war zone, get out there! > > Go to your local Social Security office > > and request forms for filing for > > disability.
