Guest guest
Becky, Your post was very interesting. When I can find some time, I am going to do some reading up on SI joints. I have a very hard time telling where my pain is coming from, spine vs. hip. Sometimes I just ache from my waist down to just above my knee. When I asked my spine surgeon and my radiologist about my SI joints - the radiologist said it's very difficult to see them from the hip x-ray, and my spine surgeon said they " looked okay " but somehow he didn't sound very convincing. It's confusing to sort out the different opinions. I'm probably just being paranoid. To confuse me further, I have a lot of numbness, some of which can definitely be attributed to my L5 nerve problem. But spine surgeon says not all of my numbness could be caused from that. I know the nerves coming from the sacrum can also cause numbness, but I'm not even sure if my sacrum was looked at during the ct myelogram. It is going to be very interesting to see what pain my hip replacement takes away. Whatever it doesn't fix, I sure hope the flatback revision fixes it. Just rambling today. Take care everyone. loriann
Guest guest
Hi all; I have some questions for anyone who has been told that hip replacements are not possible because the canals of the femurs are solid. I have been to five different doctors (and finally I had a doctor from the Medical Advisory Board who said even he couldn't help me) and all have said that a replacement is impossible because there is no place to insert the prosthesis in the shaft of the femur. I am a 31yr. old SEDc who currently has pins in both hips. They were inserted when I was 11yrs. old to keep the ball and joint working properly and to prevent the joint from wearing down. Now the femur heads are worn flat and the shafts are solid where the pins are. No one has told me that the pins are the cause of the canals solidifying but I am curious as to whether that is the problem. Anyone who has dealt with these issues, I'd like to hear from and whether you were ever successful in getting replacements. You can reply privately to tloki.lounge@... Thanks, Tricia
