Guest guest
mold can fool you...i once read it is happiest in climates like Asheville, NC and San Diego which never get a freeze, etc. and it loves an overnight temp of around 55 degrees. Having said that, of course rainy periods are worse in general plus when I walk by lawns which have just been sprinkler by the sprinker system or lawns which are overly sprinkled (in Dallas seriously people water their lawns every day) the yard will just stink from mold. In my case, all of neighbors water everyday and usually after sunset which is the worst time of the day. I am sure it is the same way in other hot climates like Phoenix, etc. OMG I know way too much about all of this but then I did live at " Mold Haven " for over a decade. My crawl space was always damp. We sold it for lot value and interestingly our former neighbor called us to say that when it would rain, it was like a lake now where the house had been. No wonder I was sooo ill while I lived there and continue to be. My advice, if you are ever looking at living space for either purchase or rent and it smells funky, moldy, etc. get out of there as fast as you can because it especially affects those of us with various immune dysfunction. Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 9:47 AM Adah, You are correct, it does not matter where you live for mold. Mold is everywhere, most of the time. The biggest indicator in that environmental mold does not significantly affect allergies/asthma, is that when mold counts are the highest, in the summer, hospital ED visits, admission rates and asthma exacerbation rates are the lowest. Denver is great, I used to live there and work at the #1 asthma center, National Jewish, as a clinical pharmacist/pharmacologist. I live in San , TX which is on the list of one of the worst cities for allergies. I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating: I once said to my allergist that maybe I should just move to Colorado (Denver) and his remark was " No matter where you move, if you have allergies, in two years you will be suffering from allergies. " Sometime after that we were in Denver on vacation and an article in the newspaper stated that the day before the mold count was the highest it had ever been in Denver! And mold is one of my severe allergies! So I think Doug is right...if you have allergies, it doesn't make any difference where you live. One of our members lives in Alaska and he has allergies! --- On Wed, 6/2/10, mom2alexnabbie@... <mom2alexnabbie@...> wrote: From: mom2alexnabbie@... <mom2alexnabbie@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Just wondering.... Guest guest
I'm from North Alabama. I know the only place I don't have allergy issues and in turn rarely have asthma issues is right on the coast where all I'm breathing is the air off the Gulf....although that was before the oil, so I doubt that would be the case these days. I could seriously go across the beach highway and where there was some grass, pavement, cars, etc. between me and the water and I might as well have been at home. > > Where is everyone from....
