I read an article on it some time back, but nothing recently.

has anyone had this done?

I have been steroid dependent since 1977, started Xolair in July 2007, was doing

well from Oct. 2008 until May 2010, not on prednisone except for bronchial

infections that exasterbated the asthma. I WAS VERY HAPPY and much more

functional and looking healthy. Since May 2010 I have been back on short terms

doses of pred almost every other month, right back on the Merry go round.

I am more asthmatic than allergic, my ige barely qualified me so that is why I

get one dose of xolair a month and not two. I have discussed with the allergist

the possibility of discontinuing the xolair and he has given me a textbook sheet

about bronchial thermoplasty to discuss with my pulmonologist.

looked at an animated video on you tube, this is done in three procedures and my

first impression is there are so many things that can go wrong. HAS ANYONE HAD

ONE OF THESE?

My IgE was 44 before I started Xolair 150mg per month.  The shot worked for 2

weeks and then stopped working.  The second month it didn't seem to work at

all.  The third month it worked for 2 weeks and then this pattern continue on

and on.  My doctors office called Genentech and they recommended I take 150

followed by 75 after two weeks and then repeat.  It's literally been the silver

bullet.  After the first dose of the 75mg I knew I was onto something big.

There was a huge change and it couldn't have come soon enough because I was

beginning the travel down the dark path.  My allergies to dust mites is so

severe there are times I considered sleeping in the bathtub with no blankets.

Now I can sleep in a normal bed as long as its covered and the bed linen is

changed frequently (about once per week).  Carpeting does not exist in my house

but beyond that I can do just about anything I want.  Talk to your doctor and

see if taking a booster dose

mid-month is an option.
