Xolair and Medicare

I've been taking Xolair for several years with most of the cost covered by a

conventional insurance plan. In 1-1/2 years I'll go on Medicare. I really

doubt if I'll be able to afford Xolair because of the so-called donut hole. And

it doesn't look like the new government health care plans, even if anything

passes Congress, will do anything to help in my time frame.

So I'm wondering if anyone has advice in how to deal with this situation. I see

one alternative might be to drop Xolair and try to build my immunity to

asthma-triggering allergens with allergy shots.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Will you not be able to carry your present insurance into retirement?  As I ask

that question I also realize that supllemental can be expensive.  We were able

to carry my husband's insurance into his retirement, and if that hadn't been

possible, I could have signed up for the teacher's retirement insurance.

Because of our supplemental insurance we do not have to worry about the drug

plans as our supplemental pays for our meds...50%, so it is still expensive, but

better than having to deal with the donut!  Maybe someone else has some better

advice than I can give.
