Guest guest
The joint pain that I have experienced lately has been just plain old arthritis and I control it with over the counter Tylenol, mostly store brand. I will have to take a break from the Xolair until I can change insurance at the beginning of next year. I am now having the withdrawal from Xolair. By withdrawal I mean that my allergies are out of control. Before Xolair, I was taking hydroxizine for itching and now that I am not taking Xolair the itching is returning. I have some Hydroxizine left over so I will be back on it. I am looking forward to getting the next 9 months behind me so I can go back to BCBS and away from Cigna Plus. I am having problems having all my meds refilled. The Cigna Plus has a high deductible so I will not be able to pay for the Xolair. We have an HRA account but it only covers $1000 and that will have to be used for blood pressure meds and antidepressants. ----- Original Message ----- From: Db <uca79iii@...> xolair users < > Sent: Sun, 27 Feb 2011 21:43:04 -0000 (UTC) Subject: [ ] From Pat, our xolair nurse I asked her about the question of joint pain and this was her response: " Hello all, I have seen postings about joint pain and Xolair. As head nurse for Xolair in a Specialty Pharmacy and tracking each & every person on it, I never heard joint pain from any one I spoke to. Repetative motion causes joint pain, Arthritis of any kind does also. Being on prednisone and now off could be the culprit. Most of us are heavier than the norm due to the prednisone and extra weight causes joints to work harder. So, see your physician, have them draw labs for arthritis, take x-rays of affected areas & formulate treatment plans. I highly doubt there is any correlation beween Xolair & joint pain. Warm compresses never hurt & will help the pain. Some people prefer cold compresses. Hope this helps Pat "

Guest guest
Hi Everyone, On the website's safety information it does state that joint pain was a significant (I say significant without 'statistical' in front of it) finding, compared to placebo with an 8% greater incidence. I find this to be impressive. I called Genentech regarding this figure, looking for the source data to give context (i.e. was it seen in their registry trials, other trials, or through post-marketing surveillance). They are going to contact me soon with more specific info. The website does make mention to discuss these findings with your physician. There is the question of a auto-antibody reaction (anti-IgG-anti-IgE-IgG) which might lead immunolgic products, depositing in certain areas, leading to a rheumatologic issue with joints, simulating arthritis. However, so far, there have not been any instances of this. my $0.02 Glenn ________________________________ From: Db <uca79iii@...> Sent: Sun, February 27, 2011 4:43:04 PM Subject: [ ] From Pat, our xolair nurse I asked her about the question of joint pain and this was her response: " Hello all, I have seen postings about joint pain and Xolair. Guest guest
I did a bit of research and found an interestingly higher incidence of arthalgia for injections vs. Tablets and capsules. Could the mode of delivery account for some of the joint pain? Thus far I have not been able to see a connection between anti-IgE and joint deposits. Am I off track?
