Guest guest
Are you sure it is related to Xolair? Have you had it before? It seems if it was related it would be more systematic, no? But you should tell your doctor about it. Do you get your injection in your thigh? Get it looked at. Guest guest
I have been taking the injections for five years and yes I did have joint pain. Knees, hips, wrists, etc after beginning the injections. I was told by my pulmonary doctor that the joint pain and the injections were not connected. I began using MSM, massage therapy, acupuncture and essential oils. Today I am pain free. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kathy & Chuck Egan Sent: Friday, February 25, 2011 7:24 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Joint Pain ??? Guest guest
Did you get a blood test confirmation for RA? Does your health care provider believe it is caused by Xolair? Guest guest
I've been on Xolair since 2003. Last fall I started having pain in my wrist. Extensive (and expensive tests) confirmed no RA or carpal tunnel - simply two ligaments with small tears (probably from walking both dogs on one leash or playing tug with them). Guest guest
There is no link between RA and xolair documented. If you are tapering pred or even tapering off high dose inhaled steroids (which do get absorbed systemically when you take piles of it), you might experience joint pain in the form of rebound inflammation in the joints (as per my rheumatologist). That is, you take xolair, then taper pred/steroids, then get joint pain. It will go away with time and conservative management. An MD can easily rule out RA if you have pain and are very concerned. Keep in mind, RA joints are red and inflammed too, not just painful. Don't forget the aging/wear and tear factors as well. , RN ________________________________ From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Sent: Sat, February 26, 2011 7:34:16 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Joint Pain ??? Guest guest
Body pain is a known side effect of Xolair. Look on the list of side effects - that's one of them. However, I'm not aware of any connection between Xolair and Rheumatoid Arthritis which is a different " critter. " I had an increase in body pain while on Xolair - sometimes I just felt so bad I didn't care (in a sense) about the improvement in asthma/sinus headaches because I hurt so much. Remember, that different people have different reactions to meds. My rheumy is trying to get me on Arava for arthritis (sero negative is all they can diagnose as I have high inflammation and swelling and pain) and emphasized the underlying inflammatory nature of many of the diseases I have - arthritis, asthma, allergies, skin rashes, etc. I'm not so sure that anti-inflammatory or disease modifying drugs necessarily translate over as being helpful from one inflammatory disease to another. Unfortunately, some of the meds for arthritis actually make lung disease worse - methotrexate was one of them for me. It would be interesting to see if anyone finds an improvement in joint/body pain on Xolair. I've been told, for instance, that MS is like one very big bad allergy yet antihistamines sure don't do anything for my hubby's MS. > > Hi I just started getting the shots 2 mnths ago. Guest guest
Yes, I'm off Xolair - at least 2-1/2 years now I think. (Sorry, have bronchitis and upper respiratory infection right now and memory fails me at the moment!) But, I really went off Xolair because the doc suddenly informed me that I had to go to an infusion center for shots after I had successfully injected at home for 1-1/2 years. The infusion center was filthy, it looked and smelled like death, the cost was much higher, the nurse (who was Xolair-trained) injected too fast and painfully bruised my arm, and the last set of shots did nothing for me. > > > > Hi I just started getting the shots 2 mnths ago.
