Guest guest
I am so glad this matter turned out to be as it were...a learning lesson. Shame on you, if we repeat our mistakes! But in reality, is it fair for the families that has lost someone, by the first timer, (all too often, repeat drunk drivers), even left hospitalized, with uncertained recovery, or those forever, maimed senselessly. Let's all try to learn from our mistakes. The fairest of all, results, are those that give us the opportunity, " never to repeat " them. I speaking from that of a very unpleasant personal experience, I was the (dwarf) driver, in a fatal car accident, 26 years ago. I can not turn back time, but if I could, you bet I would. Was visiting friends for the evening, they offered me a glass of wine, gladly in this situation, I declined. Well on my way home, I pasted thru a intersection that is known for many fatal accidents, same intersection 4 years ago, my brother was hit by a uninsured, unlicensed motorist. My brother got the ticket (my guess was, cause he was a dwarf), but he went to court, there was an eyewitness that showed up. The uninsured, unlicensed motorist, did not show up, but her lawyer said, " She accepts all responsibilities " as of yet, we don't know what that meant or accomplished. Oh well back to my accident, I spent half a year going to court. Speaking of news media frenzy, they reported that I was drunk, driving while standing in my car, oh and reported that my legs were cut off in the accident, the list went on. So yes it can be a media's hay-day. It wasn't going well, even after was proven I wasn't driving under influence, wasn't guilty of any of their claims. The judge recognized it as it was, an unfotunate accident, that was fatal. Had I took that glass of wine, who knows the outcome. Sorry, but true events, can hopefully make us think, how serious it is, for anyone accused of drinking and driving, guilty or not!
