Guest guest
Vinegar and water is a solution that I use. I am allergic to most of the store ones even those that say fragrance free. Sr. Pat, C.R. I've heard from some that the citrus based cleaners are good, but I haven't tried them... Anything ammonia based is problematic for me. Thanks! Guest guest
Darcy, Kaboom works well for me as a bathroom cleaner; it's fairly low-odor. I use Clorox/Lysol wipes as much as I can so that there aren't vapours in the air from spraying stuff around. Cleaning really frequently is good because then you can clean for less time. Open up the windows. Wear a mask if you're still bothered. Citrus stuff does seem to bother my lungs less than other stuff. I think 409 has an orange formula (or at least they used to!). I use key lime juice to clean some stuff in the kitchen. I dilute it with water first (probably about 50/50). If you handwash any of your dishes and need a little more power against the grease, add some lime juice. It's amazing at cutting grease. It works in the oven too (no toxic oven cleaners! yay!). All of my appliances are cleaned with the lime juice and all the other surfaces with the wipes pretty much. So: Kaboom, Clorox/Lysol wipes, and key lime juice. Every once in awhile, I'll buy Lysol toilet bowl cleaner too or have need to have to break out the bleach. The bleach is REALLY bad on my lungs, though, so that's really rare. Kaboom works well on the toilet as long as you clean it really often. If you're the sort who lets something look dirty before you clean it, then you may need an actual toilet bowl cleaner. Hope that helps a little =)
Guest guest
Thanks for the tip about lime juice. I would also like to add that you can use baking soda or vinegar to clean almost everything. Use baking soda like you would Comet or Ajax. Nothing makes a silver sink shine better. Use vinegar for anything and everything. It can replace cleaning sprays and laundry softener. Used together, they can clean the drain. Poor some baking soda down it, poor vinegar over it, enjoy the crazy volcano, then let it sit for twenty minutes before you rinse. If you really want to buy a cleaning product, I like the Next To Godliness brand that they sell at Trader Joe's. > > Darcy, > > Kaboom works well for me as a bathroom cleaner; it's fairly low-odor. Guest guest
If you search online, there are lots of recipes for cleaning with baking soda and/or plain white vinegar. These are really good options that are easily tolerated by folks with allergies. > > Does anyone have an allergy friendly recommendation for cleaning solutions?
