Guest guest
I'm glad this note resurfaced because I had begun one and put it in my filing cabinet and forgot it was there! LOL -- Willem, not only did I laugh so good at your note about doing shots (and about the exercise), the shot note reminded me of my second shot day (the thoughts I had). When I did that second shot (in my kitchen), I had an automatic, very fleeting (but strong) urge to go into the bathroom instead and do it. (Talk about recall ) ! Sheesh! I hadn't " done a shot " since 1978, but my brain vividly recalled that bathrooms were the place I used to do them -- with the blinds pulled, the door locked, and the toilet nearby. It (the recall) was almost like punishment (not very good memories, not to mention the source of my HCV). I finally shook the visions and said to myself " it ain't the 70's no more. Stop beating yourself up and just stick the damn thing in your upper thigh " lol. Anyhow..... back to seriousness. I have a question (or concern) about " red spots " and wonder if the answer (if there is one) might bear any significance on my reaction to the Pegasys. When I did mine (all three), I expected red spots to appear, (and they did -- on about the second day afterwards). My red spots, though, didn't go away in a few days. They just got bigger and bigger as the week went by (they probably reached 50-cent piece size), and they remained there for about a month. They weren't beet red and didn't itch or hurt as I recall, but it was apparent my thighs thought I had viciously assaulted them! I never showed them to the nurse or doc because 1) redness around injection site was expected, and 2) even though they were kind of big, by the time they got that big I was already off treatment and wasn't anticipating ever wanting to attempt it again and didn't care about what, if any significance they might have. So the big question is -- do you (or does anyone) know if my spots may have indicated something more serious than just a local reaction? I'm paranoid, I guess. LOL. It's not even 5:45 in the a.m. yet, and here I sit -- worried about red spots! The heat index outside yesterday was 110 (actual temp was 98). I didn't walk yesterday morning; I didn't walk yesterday evening, I didn't go to bed until midnight, and I guess I'm wide-eyed from lack of exercise. I just stepped outside a few minutes ago, and it's already 78 degrees out there -- so muggy and oppressive already it's hard for someone in GOOD health to breathe ! I wanna go to Alaska. You guys have a good day. Guest guest
ROFLMAO.....ah Willem, you are a riot....I love your sense of humor....don't ever change ;-) FIRST SHOT HI.Here are some tips regarding taking yr first shot....Make sure you close all the windows so that neighbours cannot hear you scream. If you have a buddy let him be standby with the telephone and the Bible,if you.re alone....well hope for the best.Put on a CD of a heavy metal group it prevents you from hearing the needle cutting your flesh..Make sure you have a towel or something to prevent blood from messing up your carpet.Aim the needle straight towards the fat tissue otherwise you will hit a nerve or muscle and then even the heavy metal, closed windows, will prevent you from alerting the neighbourhood with your screams. You might even end up in a wheelchair. If you have no fat go to Mac .s for a year and then try again.Once you have injected yourself and nothing of the above has happened say amen close your eyes, lie down and try to forget this ordeal........Ok....I have take hundreds of shots and believe me a mosquito-bite is worse.Absolutely nothing to it.Willem. Guest guest
HI.Everytime I injected I had red spots, they cleared within a couple of days.It simply is a reaction of yr skin with the interferon.Nothing serious, but people react differently.I asked my Doc. about it and I got the same answer. When I used the Peg-interferon the spots appeared less frequently and sometimes not at all.I wpuld.nt worry about it,one of the many side-effects of treatment but is all we got for the moment .Another, for me anyway, longterm side-effect is the sleeplessness.I still don.t manage to get seven or so solid hours of sleep.I wake up early,no matter how exhausted I.am.Never had this before starting TX. I make up for it by doing a nap in the afternoon when I hve the time for it.Willem. Guest guest
Kate, It seems we are starting treatment at almost the same time. I am so happy that you did not have too many sides. I started a week ago and my first shot was friday. I have to do another one tonight. I felt pretty tired this week but mostly bad on Wednesday. I feel pretty good today but am kind of dreading tonight. I have been praying and many people are praying for me as well. I will include you in my prayers. Good luck! Sincerely, kate <kla116@...> wrote: I started treatment yesterday around 2:00 o'clock. I did not get any symptons until around 7pm. I just stayed in bed. I had the chills and shaking. Guest guest
Hi Kate, the water really helps, even for the headaches. I was supposed to drink 80 ounces of water a day. I have 2 more to go before I'm done with treatment and I'm glad I did it. I've noticed after about 3 weeks of treatment, I'd get bursts of energy and as weeks went by, my energy level improved even more. I've had a couple of bad days and experienced anger a lot, but I've been able to manage on treatment. Hang in there, you'll make, I'm praying for you... Guest guest
Yeah, that first shot is a doozy! But you already know you’ll live thru it. Good on you for giving it another shot (pun intended)! De RE: space cadets, brain fog, panic I gave myself my own shot last night, but stuck myself in my hand first cuz my hands were shaking so bad. My fever went to 104 within 30 minutes of the injection and you know the throbber headache hit immediately. Anyone got any glucosamine? Right now its 98 and MUGGY, and hard as hell to breathe, and the only thing that sounds good about stepping into a hot tub is stepping out. teehee. Kathys tub though, now THAT sounds good. Guest guest
Welcome anjie, I am fairly new to the group too. I found out yesterday that I have genotype 2 and also need my gallblader removed. My thyroid was normal for now anyway. the Dr. says that could change once tx. starts.I am hoping to jump right in and try to get it done. I have periods where I cry for no good reason and I have had a lot of anger too. My gastro wrote a letter to my primary Dr. and I have an appt. Monday to see if I need to be on some meds. for all the mood swings. The one thing I have found out from this group mainly, and my Dr. is that this thing canbe beat, So I have been making myself get up and try to go about normal business the best I can. You have lots of support here and info. Hope to hear how you ae coming along. brzy From: anjiemann <anjiemann@...>Subject: First ShotHepatitis CSupportGroupForDummies Date: Thursday, September 4, 2008, 7:55 PM Well, I haven't quite figured out how this site works but I get the post on my email all the time so I though I would share my story. I was dx in Feburary of this year. I did all kinds of research and talking to all kinds of people online trying to learn as much as I could. I learned that alot of my other health issues re the same as other people with Hep C. Such as my gall bladder being removed and low thyroid horamone amoung others. The Monday befor I started my tx I also found out that I am bipolar. I had to laugh to keep from crying. Anyway, I just had my first shot on the 29th of August. I haven't been sick (vomiting) at all. When I'm out in the sun I get a little nausous but not bad. I know it's just been a week but I seem to be doing pretty good so far. I will welcome any advise on this site or TX or just life with Hep C in general.Thank you all, Anjie
