I had a lot of pain in my upper to mid-back when I first started Xolair.

The nurse gave me the injections in my arms. I switched to having them in

my stomach - no more pain!

is the 'joint pain' they list in their side effects, but I don't have pain

Xolair shots have never been painful for me but REGULAR sllergy shots burn like

fire.

Xolair injections are given slowly because the medicine is so think.

Hopefully, the person who gave you your shots had training in how to give them.

As for side effects.... I have never had any at all and I have been on xolair

since Septmber 2003.

Ask your doctor why you are having these kinds of problems and let us know what

you find out.

Thanks for posting :)

H Parkg86!!!!

I'm getting ready to have my first shots... so your post has me a little

scared! Are you on any other medications? You could be reacting to a

combination of different meds? I'm on a ton of different meds and adding

Xolair

is scaring me.. but I'm SO ready to be healthy again...

Have you told your Doctor about your side effects? Have they checked you

for a Pulmonary Embolism or any heart problems?

Please keep us informed. I plan to write the group on a daily basis as

well as keep a personal log of how things are working for me. I've been a

big advocate in my own health for 2 years by keeping daily logs of

medications, the scale of the hives/angioedema on a daily basis along with any

other

symptoms. I will keep everyone informed on my progress so they will know

how Xolair is working for me.... hopefully what I'm going through will help

another person out there one day and knowledge is power over our disease.

Please keep us updated. I wish you the very best of luck!!!

Best Wishes,

Thanks so VERY much, Doug!

I know the side effects are a rarity. However, it seems if it's out

there, I'll get it. Well, that's the way my life has been! What has me most

worried is the FDA investigation/study going on that will end in 2012 in

regards to the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Embolism factors. I already had

the PE's in September so I'm very high risk for those as well. Any kind of

chest/lung pain sends me straight to the ER for fear that I've developed

another one even though I'm on Coumadin. The scariness of it all makes me

very anxious.

You're a blessing... and thank you for always keeping me informed and in

good spirits. Come Friday I hope to be hive free!!!! The last 2 weeks have

been pure hell trying to keep the hives/swellings at bay!

Thanks again :)

There is no reason to be scared. After 7.5 years, xolair is just a regular

Just look at all the positive responses in this group. There are very few

negative ones.

It's gonna be ok. Really!

Come on folks, let's let know it's gonna be ok :)

You are most welcome :) When I got my first shots in September of 2003

there was NO place on the internet to turn to get advice so I created this

group.

I was the first patient in my state to get xolair and yes, I was a little

apprehensive but I knew I had no other choice.

40 mg a day of prednisone for years had wrecked my body and I needed to

get off of it badly. Xolair was finally my chance.

Now, 7.5 years later I am no longer on any steroids and use a rescue

inhaler once or twice a day.

Xolair has been a miracle drug for me and many in this group.

Keep us informed :)

I am on a whole " pharmacy " of medications for other chronic illnesses besides

There's probably not a drug out there that hasn't been used by at least one

member of this group. Those for asthma and any other condition, including

cardiac drugs.

If you read through some old posts, you'll see that. You'll also see that no one

has reported any bad side effects (that I recall) and that the most common side

effect mentioned, was feeling tired after the shots, the first few times. I had

that one and, frankly, it was probably due more to excitement than the shot.

One thing you need to realize, is that with new drugs they have to report

everything that happens during the trials. If one of the test subjects falls out

of a tree and breaks their leg, broken bones will be listed as a possible side

effect until they do more tests to rule it out. Silly, I know, but that's how it

is.

Struggling to breathe is incredibly hard on your heart. Something that makes it

easier to breathe should help your heart as well.

No side effects, Sheila? Are you on any other medications? I'm afraid

the others I'm on might react with Xolair. I'm just trying to be

informed as

much as I can before friday.

Thanks so very much for your help!!!

You are most welcome :) When I got my first shots in September of 2003

there was NO place on the internet to turn to get advice so I created

this

Doug

Ha ha. I agree with the tree thing. Someone reported alopecia as a side effect.

Funny.

Please report these to your doctor to help you determine if they are related to

Xolair.

The injections shouldn't be painful. Occasionally I experience a prick, but

normally there's no pain, so it's strange to me that you're reporting the

injections are painful....

side effects I'm having is severe neck/upper back pain for 2-3 days after the

injections. Also some lung pain and headaches. The stiff neck pain is the

worst so far. Anyone else with similar side effects? I'm guessing this is the

'joint pain' they list in their side effects, but I don't have pain anywhere

else.
