Thanks for posting :)

What does your doctor say about it?

This group is just about 7 years old now and we have never had a post with this

problem. If your doctors are mystified then our members probably are too.

Sorry, we couldn't be much help. Hope you find it somewhere.

Hi,

This is probably an idea you're well past, but just in case no one has

mentioned it, here goes; try Zantac. The body makes multiple kinds of histamine

in response to an allergen and regular antihistamines only cover histamine 1. My

pulmo/allergist has me take zantac (150mg/dose) every 4 hours when I start

having an allergic reaction and need hydroxyzine too. Just an idea, I hope it

helps!

Have you considered that it might not be a lung issue, but rather an issue

that's manifesting in your lungs, if you get my meaning.

I have bad chest pain sometimes that make it very hard to breathe and feels for

all the world like my lungs aren't working at all - Turns out it's a different

health condition affecting the muscles in my chest and has nothing to do with my

lungs.

I've also experienced itchy lungs, but not to the degree you mention. My body

over-reacts to random stimuli and makes parts of me itch, ache, burn, feel like

I'm being bitten or zapped, or any combination of the above. All thanks to

fibromyalgia. (I hope you don't have that.)

I would recommend three things; 1. Discuss alternate causes with a doctor who

doesn't specialize in lungs. 2. Look into to supplements that calm the system.

and 3. Consider increasing your Xolair. Which is, of course, something else to

discuss with your doctor.

Good luck and let us know if you find out anything.

I have an deep tissue itch in my upper back such as you describe, this started

years ago and once it starts itching I have to find a wall or corner to scratch,

like an old bear ha!, it is an annoying itch and there is no outward signs of

rash or lesions. Once the itch starts then almost immmediately my asthma and

allergy symptoms start, therefore I have just attributed it to my allergies. I

have not found anything to relieve it. I have found throughout the years that

allergy symptoms can manifest themselves in many ways. I do not believe there is

any superficial cream which will help only antihistamines, one suggestion as

mentioned earlier by adding and H2 blocker such as Zantac may help, also you may

consider a leukotriene inhibitor such as Zyflow or singulair in addition to your

other allergy meds. If you do find the answer let us know!Good luck

As a matter of fact, I DO have something that sounds very much like this and

have had it since childhood. Thankfully it usually only lasts for a matter of

hours or can come and go over a period of days. It's the " itching on the

inside " that brings me the weird looks from doctors and I haven't mentioned it

for years. There's nothing at all that shows externally except for the scratch

marks and bleeding from scratching myself. I also have had it on (in) my

stomach although it feels like it's just under the skin.

I too associate it with allergy although it's not from contact - it's presumably

something I'm breathing or have somehow gotten inside my body. Doctors have

been no help at all except to vaguely write it off as allergy or laugh or allude

to the " crazy " diagnosis. (probably because they dont' know what they're

doing.) As for treatment - probably it either went away by its self or from

antihistamines or steroids. Showering helped some too although steamy showers

can actually trigger asthma in me. In my opinion it's an acute form of allergy.

It's been some time since I remember having it but it's very real in my

experience.

Something else I've had - sort've a variation on the theme - has been intense

itching under the skin on my arm(s) - predominantely on the left. Again, it's

been a few years since it was really bad.

Your dose of Xolair seems rather low especially in view of all the misery you're

experiencing. When I was on Xolair it was 375 mgs every 2 weeks. It did tame

the skin allergy and sinus and asthma while I was on it.
