HI

We must be twins, lol, seems we have many of the same problems. I have that

rash and I was told it goes along with Psoriatic Arthritis, which I also have.

I use Benovate Cream regularly. But as with any corticosteriod product you have

to use it sparingly. When I get the rash though, it starts to cover a greater

part of my body each time. I also get the thick skin build up in the palms of

my hands which turns to almost tissue paper consistancy and my hands split wide

open just by touching it some days. I remember the doctor who originally gave

me the news that I had AS also added the Psoriatic Arthritis and he had me using

Betnovate Ointment with occluded dressings. Basically that meant a surgical

rubber or plastic glove worn over the ointment and 2x2 or 4x4 gauze pads and

then sealed at the wrists. They do not recommend that too often as it gives the

body a big dose of cortisone through the skin but it worked like a charm. The

lesions cleared up quickly but all I had to do was pick up a tool or shovel,

anything that made contact with the palms of my hand and it broke down all over

again. I hated going to public gatherings where there was a lot of hand

shaking. If someone gave me a firm to extra firm handshake tears came to my

eyes as it hurt like Hades.

Hope you get yours under control

Fr. Dave

Hi Fr. Dave, Yes, I see the parallel between our problems too.I'll be seeing my

new Rheumy in March. He is a diagnostion too. I am so tired of playing the part

of the 'guess what I am' game. But with the itchy rash, that Fluocinolone

Acetonide Solution works pretty well most of the time.I don't use the cortisone

creams, because they don't work at all.And if I had to wear rubber or plastic

gloves, I would go crazy.I am allergic to plastics.Rubber I don't know about.I

wear a lot of cotton too.My allergies have gotten so bad the older I get, that

soon I will have to have that glass bubble for a home.LOL I can't even lean my

forearms on the computer because it is plastic. And tape is a no,I have to use

paper tape. After being on the computer, I have to wash my hands well. It's kind

of funny because my brother has worked in plastics for his career since he was a

teen ager.He would always bring me something home for my house, and I was ok

with it back when I was young, but if he brought me something now, I would have

to refuse it.I don't even drink things that are sold in plastic containers. And

at the hospital, it is really bad, since almost everything is made of plastic.I

can't stand when they give me oxygen, I get such a headache from the fumes of

the mask and tubing. Anyway, I am not to into going to the hospital anymore.I

would rather suffer at home where I don't have to give my health history.I've

had so much done, that I carry a card around with me incase I should have an

emergency, I just pull that out,I have all my meds listed, and the surgeries, and

allergies, blood type, drs names, emergency contacts numbers, and No MRI's, I

have about 60 staples in my belly, holding me together.I just don't like poking

and acting like I am a freak that they don't know what to do with, Do you get

that feeling too? It makes me want to run home,if I could run.Well, enough of

that stuff. I go for an ultrasound on my kidney and bladder tomorrow. The

cystoscopy work yesterday is still tender, so I will be able to let them know

about that then. The doc did find interstitial cystitis from the ReA. Next stop

after this urinary stuff is the eye dr.I am not seeing very well at all.I think

this stuff has been in my life so long that there isn't one spot not effected.

Life, God only gives us as much as we can bare. You take care, and all the rest

of you out there.Don't get in despair, there is always another corner to turn

before us, and it might just be something really great.Hang in there. Oh, and

have a Happy Valentine's Day. D. in OR

Sounds like a detox. Try taking a bath in Hydrogen Perioxide and Epsom Salts or better yet Dead Sea salts. If you have a normal sized tub put one cup of each in the warm water. Make it warm enough to really open the pores. Sit in the mixture for 20 mins. This should help.

Try upping your salt to 1/2 tsp per day. How much Vit C are you doing? You should be in the 3,000 to 5,000 mgs per day range.

Itchy rash

Hi,Taking iodoral 12.5 for a couple of months. Results pretty good but for the last few day I started having nasty rash. Also taking mag, Vit C, and some salt 1/4 teaspoon a day. Is thisjust detox? How do I get rid of rash??Rgds,Iodine Man

Another thing for itchy rash is just put plain oatmeal in a blender to make a oat flour like half cup or cup at a time to top of blades. Can add to bathtub or add to lotion for area or just add some water to it for area for 20-30 minutes. It will absorb the toxins and clear the itch away. Works for chicken pox, mosquito bites, poison oak and so on. They sell this in store as AVEENO for $5 for little bags. Pam

I just joined this group after experiencing quick relief from itching rash using

coconut oil. I think the rash is actually canadid but not really sure. Never

went to doctors to have it checked out. For about the last three months the

itching was real bad. After aplying the cocnut oil to the rash the itching

stopped. Amazing!!!!!!! I'm sold on cocnut oil

Nick.

You think it works well alone, try mixing it with one quarter tea tree oil

and watch warts and eczema disappear while itching and irritability subside.

The tea tree keeps the coconut oil in liquid form year round and the coconut

oil helps to spread the tea tree thin while they both do their magic. Also

works on persistent acne and many many other abnormal skin conditions. Can

follow application with a common moisturizer for persistently dry and

flaking skin that may result from rapid healing.

Cheers,

1/4 tea tree works well. I warm up the coconut oil so they blend easily.
