Guest guest
From what I have heard, sometimes insurance companies actually require an ambulance. Meanwhile, at least the hospital where I had my THR and my husband had his TKR also had inhouse an " acute rehab " floor. They explained to me that some insurance companies were ok with that and some required use of an external facility (but still paid for medically necessary acute rehab). The difference between acute and regular rehab had to do with the number of PT sessions a day. It sounds scary, but I'm betting that if they pay for an " acute rehab " , you'll end up recovering faster and wasting less " sitting around time " in a " regular " rehab. Betsy (THR 6/08, husband TKR 7/07) From: shihtzumom Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2008 3:39 PM Joint Replacement Subject: need encouragment, please Ok, I'm kind've scared again. My bilateral tkr is next week, on the 16th. The surgeons office just called to see if I have chosen a rehab facility for after the 3-4 days in the hospital. I mentioned the name of a nearby rehab, and she said, " Oh no, you are having bilateral surgery. You will need an acute care rehab facility! " (Actually, I was planning on being well enough to come home from the hospital and not need to go to rehab, though the possibility of rehab was still there.) Now, I need a super duper rehab, not even a regular rehab? And she told me to call my insurance to make sure they would cover an ambulance to take me from the hospital to the rehab facility. Hey, guys, is it going to be " that " bad? I thought I would be able to walk with a walker by the time I got out of the hospital? This sounds like I am going to be completely incapacitated. Yes, an " acute care " rehab. They will have you walk every day, and hopefully, you will be off the walker, on crutches, and able to negotiate stairs, put on shoes and handle things in the kitchen and shower by the time you go home. Good luck! Bill in Minneapolis BTKR a year ago October.
Guest guest
You will be so happy to walk again, after recovery and rehab. Acute care rehab centers do only that - rehab. They specialize in rehabs of all kinds, there are many more PTs and PT assist. Not that a hospital rehab isn't good, they are, I had PT at the hospital I had surgery and more when I came home. I've had both knees replaced, not at the same time though. Sometimes I wish I would have done it at the same time - so I would have got it all done at the same time, I'm in knee rehab again now. I won't sugar coat it, it hurts. Talk to your Dr. and make sure he understands what you expect in pain relief, what ever that is. I had a bad experience with pain relief. Just talk to your Dr. and you'll do great! I'm working on stairs now. Soon I'll have 2 great knees. I'll pray for you on Wednesday. Blessings, Lynette
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, sorry this happened. You are not on moderation but the the " spam " feature is turned on and it identifies many legitimate messages as spam and actually does NOT often catch the spam so most of us list owners turn it off but being a moderator I don't have the access here, to do that. This time, it identified 3 legitimate messages as spam. When it does this, they do not go out but must be approved by a mod or owner. Sorry again... Chrissie knows folks here are praying for her and I'm sure she will return to the list soon and see your message. The prayers help her whether she knows about them or not... best, Sue, group moderator > > i must be on moderation post i posted this yesterday now she don't get to see it before she went for surgery > Sharon LeVine > Re: Re: need encouragment, please > > > I think i saw there you had a child, if so just remember the pain you had having the child the minute that laid that bundle of joy in your arms the pain was worth every minute of it. So will the new knee as soon as you can walk and it's a different kind of pain and you will that the old pain is going and so shall the new pain in time that it was worth it to. I haven't had mine yet going to after the first of the year and that is what I'm keeping in mind. If you have made it thought your life so far you can do this too. > Sharon LeVine >
Guest guest
Hi Sue, I own and moderate 11 . I turned the spam feature off right away as soon as they created it, since members' posts were being judged as SPAM. There has never been any spam posted to any of my groups, since all the groups allow posts only from members. If that is true for this group, then you can turn off the spam filter. Also, one thing I have learned over the 12 years or so that I have these is to set it so that all new members are moderated at first. Once they have posted a few times and I know they aren't a) crazy, mean or c) selling something, I change their status so they aren't moderated anymore. claire Callahan Goodman Hi Sharon, sorry this happened.
