Guest guest
I have been three years on xolair this last February. What a difference. I still have to avoid situations where I will manufacture IgE - like I can't sit next to someone who has recently been in the house of someone who owns a CAT a bird a horse, a dog or has cockroaches. ha ha ha. (I don't think I know anyone who has cockroaches) I also carry my epi pen at all times. I can't travel on public transportation but last August I decided it might be OK for me to take a trip to Cathedral in the Pines in NH because our group was going in a limo - big mistake - there were 10 of us and I was sitting next to a cat owner and one of the ladies raised horses. I had an asthma attack the entire trip - and when I got back - I still had to drive home and could not go on the highway - had to take back roads. With in three days I was back on an antibiotic and prednisone for a couple of months. I probably un-did most of a years worth of therapy. We just have to be careful and adjust to the fact that we must adjust our lives to accommodate the disease. I wonder how many people nation wide are taking this drug. I am in the VA health care system and I have been told that within this system there are less than 200 total. Me too. They were giving me the very thing that made me make IgE - and I nearly died. Today I can still get into a situation where I manufacture IgE - the shots won't stop that only bind what I have - but for the most part I can walk away from bad circumstances. I have been on Xolair now for three years - 375 mg every two weeks - and I can for the most part also breath - I just have to avoid sitting next to anyone who has been in the house of someone who owns a CAT. > Anne > Anne, That was the only time I have ever had any kind of reaction. It was 1962 in the covered wagon days of allergy injections too. Xolair has never caused any kind of pain when injected or reaction, however, I do carry 2 epi pens with me the rest of the day as per my doctor's instructions. Guest guest
Be careful, do you have all your rescue meds? Maybe you should head to hospital. I'm praying for you. Guest guest
I don't know city-wide but at one time the clinic where I got my shot told me they had close to 100 patients who were on xolair and they have two other clinics where they give the shots. I am in SA, TX. I wonder if there is any way to find out how many nationwide are on xolair...or internationally! Guest guest
I am okay as long as I stay in a smoke-free hotel and those are sometimes hard to find. Even a hotel that has non=smoking rooms can still be a problem for me. From: Leigh McCall-Alton <mccallalton@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Looking forward to my shots today Date: Thursday, June 10, 2010, 8:24 PM  I am in a hotel and I am breatheless...only here for med tests...my husband says I have to get out of here because I am so wheezy ________________________________ From: Magnuson <magnuson.mary@...> Sent: Thu, June 10, 2010 7:42:25 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Looking forward to my shots today  I have been three years on xolair this last February.
