Guest guest
Hi all - I'm 60 and my orthopedist tells me I need shoulder replacement due to arthritis.? My internist tells me that if I'm going to have to have it, better to have it at 60 than 70.? I'm still looking or other possibilities.?The pain is usually managable?but I have very limited mobility.? ?Has anyone in this group had shoulder replacemen?.? I'm wondering if I'll get my mobility back.? Also, my right shoulder has the same symptoms my left had a few years ago.? Any tips of keeping the? arthritic progression going in my " good " shoulder " .? I take naproxen and glaucosomine/chrondroiten.? I do yoga, easy weight lifting and aerobics.? Nothing I'm doing now seems to be stoping the arthritis.? I'm new to the group, but would appreciate any information you can share. Thanks much! Guest guest
, I can put my left arm behind my back, with no trouble at all. if my right one went there, I would be able to do my bra up from behind, When I had the first shoulders done, I always could get my arms behind my back, with no trouble,. It wasn't until I had the nightmares in 09 with the 4 shoulder surgeries, and a paralyzed arm, I can't do it. The arm is still pretty useless. I can use my wrist and elbow but that's it... The shoulder itself has wasted to look like nothing on this earth, its horrible, I can't wear sleeveless clothes, as it looks horrendous. x -- Re: Shoulder Replacement In a message dated 8/11/2011 11:35:38 P.M. I think they have them lots of places now. Did they tell you not to put your arm behind your back to do a bra? I agree with , don't do it until you absolutely need it, then maybe you will appreciate it. I'm going to therapy today and I'm so tired. I won't be able to do my exercises right because of it. It gets tired so easy because I have to build my strength up still. like I also had one shoulder done as a reverse shoulder, the other is a normal replacement. Jeff also had a reverse shoulder. where do you get your bras from, ? I have the worst trouble getting dressed as I can't lift the arm that has the reverse shoulder The other arm is a good as any one else's I can lift it put it behind my back etc. Its my right arm that is the problem, and I had my reverse shoulder done beginning of December 09 and I can't use it any more than if they left the other one in that didn't work. due to the tendons coming off the bone. my only advice about a shoulder is don't do it until its absolutely necessary, and you are miserable. x

As far as I know I'm allowed to put it behind my back lower or higher, but not to hook my bra. That was how he put it. I'm not quite sure why but I don't do it. Can't really yet anyway, if I wanted to. , I can put my left arm behind my back, with no trouble at all. if my right one went there, I would be able to do my bra up from behind, When I had the first shoulders done, I always could get my arms behind my back, with no trouble,. I also hope that I don't ever have to have any more surgeries. Especially on my shoulder. I was so pleased when I could do it, I showed my surgeon, And he was very impressed, as he told me I wouldn't be able to do it, And I said to him watch me ?? But this was after the first surgeries, I have now had 5 on right and 2 on left So its no wonder they don't work. !!!
