Guest guest
I would venture a try with the acid water that is separated from the alkaline by an alkaline water machine. Do you have one or do you know someone who has one who can give you some acid water? ________________________________ From: ELIZABETH H <earh41@...> Coconut Oil Sent: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 11:36 PM Subject: skunk smell? Â Not to change the topic, but can any of you help me with suggestions on getting rid of Skunk smell? My dog got sprayed by a skunk. I have initially washed her in a solution of white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda? That helped quite a bit. Tomorrow I will try juicing some tomatoes and washing her with that. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,
Guest guest
I wouldn't bother with the tomato juice as it is expensive and messy. I would use a fresh bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide along with a hefty squirt of liquid dish detergent (to cut through the musky oil) along with a rounded quarter cup of baking soda (makes foamy bubbles). I use this on my cat (he is stupid year after year) in a floor bucket (he holds onto the rim with his claws and I never get scratched) filled with warm water and this solution. It only takes one good application. If your dog is large then a tub or small wading pool might be helpful. I rinse the beast with clear warm water. Guest guest
I work for a dog groomer and this is the method she uses. Tomato juice doesn't work...as soon as it is humid, etc...the dog stinks again. You can always use massengill douche in vinegar and water one. Cheaper to use the separate ingredients though. > > > I wouldn't bother with the tomato juice as it is expensive and messy. When the truck got hot from the sun, the urine smell would take our breath away. My husband spent a small fortune on products to remove the odor only to be disappointed when the sun came out. I simply added water to about a half cup of baking soda to make a gravy consistency and put that on and scrubbed it in the carpet with a small brush, let it dry and he vacuumed out. Never a trace of odor. For years I have used it for under arm deodorant...works better than the real deal from the store. Edith
