BTW, I don't know if all of you have had this restriction, but I was told I

must take prophylactic antibiotics before any dental work including teeth

cleaning - for 2 years after my TKR. I already had to do it (I took one 500

mg Biaxin one hour prior to the appointment) due to a crown coming off.

I wonder why it's OK not to do that after two years? My allergist, who rx'd

the antibiotic for me, told me that this is only necessary for surgery of

the mouth or esophagus - not skin cancer surgery or other common kinds of

surgery. Interesting.
