Guest guest
Carol, I have tried to wean off of Xolair but the itching all over that I experience is so terrible until I have to go back on it. Fortunately, I tried to wean off while I still had some left and it was horrible. If you have allergies they are sure to surface once you stop. I have 6 more boxes and I am tempted to use 2 instead of 3 to stretch out the shots. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol <floridabouvs@...> xolair users < > Sent: Tue, 15 Mar 2011 18:34:25 -0000 (UTC) Subject: [ ] Must stop Xolair due to cost I have tried everything that has been suggested to me, but I can't afford more than $1,000 every 3 months, and I don't qualify for assistance. Not wealthy enough, and not poor enough. The Middle Class anthem. Does anyone know how I could find out about weaning off Xolair and what to expect? Genentech is very unhelpful. They say I have to get that through my doctor. He has no information to offer. Thanks. Carol
Guest guest
Im curious, what is the " itching " that you say you had while weaning off of Xolair. Was this a " withdrawal " type of reaction you had or was this something that you had that necessitated the Xolair shots in the first place. Also, how long have you been off of Xolair? I brought this up to my infusion nurse in the past and she said that there is no weaning, but there is a return to prior Ige levels and thus the prior problems. ________________________________ From: Gwendolyn Rafter <gwen5052@...> xolair users < > Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 3:53:25 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Must stop Xolair due to cost Carol, I have tried to wean off of Xolair but the itching all over that I experience is so terrible until I have to go back on it. Guest guest
Mark, I have ways had problems with itching. Until I started taking Xolair I use to take I was taking hydroxizine for itching. The Xolair took away most of my allergies. When I tried to wean off, they all came back. I still have 6 boxes from my last shipment. I am goingt to try taking 2 and see if I can stretch them until I can afford a new shipment. Guest guest
my dr had me stop xolair for 9 months while pregnant (8 months while preg and 1 month after hunter was born to allow my hormones to level out). there was no weaning. i just didn't get my next set of shots. no isses (slowly my allergies/asthma flared up, but i don't think that's a side effect of stopping xolair any more than better breathing is a side effect from taking xolair - does that make sense?). its not like prednisone that you need to wean off of....at least, as far as i know. it is unfortunate that you need to stop due to cost. the xolair people can't help you? heather > > Im curious, what is the " itching " that you say you had while weaning off of > Xolair. Guest guest
Exactly Mark, that is what I have read and been told. The itching must have been a symptom that they had previously or the body's reaction to elevated IgE levels. Carol have you tried the Xolair credit card?? They will pay up to 80% of your deductible. Also was about medical assistance due needing to be on this medication to sustain life. If your Dr. writes up it correctly it may work......just a thought! Good luck and God Bless ________________________________ From: mark flash <flash_m@...> Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 4:03:49 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Must stop Xolair due to cost Im curious, what is the " itching " that you say you had while weaning off of Xolair.
