Hi Helen:

I have a very good friend who has bad RA and have been researching it

for her for years. RA is a tough nut, but MSM will definitely help

it... Coconut oil should also, but I have no direct experience with it

for this.

You need to do what I have been doing... there is information out

there, but it will take awhile to make much progress. Osteo is a

different breed and easily beaten with MSM... and Duncan's Whey

protocol is very helpful.

Regards,

Jim

>Hello all, do any of you well informed people know if there is any

evidence or anecdotal information that coconut oil helps with RA.? I

have a feeling that I once read something about it but can't remember

where. I'd be grateful for any information.

Thanks Jim, I thought it might be a problem, my daughetr has just been diagnosed

with it and its really hard to see her struggling with the pain. Thank goodness

for the internet as the consultants solution seems to start and finish with

steroids, not good at her age. I'll try MSM , if you find anything that works

I'd be grateful if you would let me know. I thinkt he coconut oil may ease

things for her and I'll take a look at Duncans whey protocol. Grateful for your

help.

Hi Helen, I sure hope you get a response to your question. I have just

started taking coconut oil for RA. I have had it for years, but it seems it

has moved into a more advanced phase. I haven't noted any positive changes

yet. Will be watching the forum answers to your query.

The first couple of times I saw rheumatoid arthritis relieved or " cured " it was

by two local trauma nurses who were supporting Mannatec's use of glyconutrients.

This Google search reveals the role the whey and other antioxidants might play

in this disease of oxidative stress:

all good,

Wouldn't a trial of LDN be appropriate? It is supposed to moderate the immune

system and reduce inflammation as I understand it. We are waiting for it to

arrive to give it a trial for my daughter's depression.

low dose naltrexone

I would also wonder about thyroid issues contributing as well, but good luck at

finding a traditional doc to consider. Check out StopTheThyroidMadness.com. Docs

missed my issues almost completely, this site's info & forums brought me back to

health.

What I have experienced is that often it is not just one issue, but a

combination. Cheers,

Thanks for your helpful suggestions, I think you are correct that it is

a combination of factors,I hadn't thought ofLDN but will now look at it, it

seems that CMO which I think is what your sister took, Duncan, may be helpful

too. I have looked at the glyconutrient suggestions and need to do some more

research on that. I have also been recommended an immune modulator made from

Pine, it contains plant sterols and sterolins has anyone heard of it? its called

MOducare. so quite a lot to consider alongside the VCO. I'll start an experiment

and let you know, in the meantime if anyone has any success please do let me

know.

Kind Regards to all

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry to hear about your daughter problems and pain. In order to be of any

assistance I would have to have some information. Age, exact area of pain,

Right or left side.

Inside or outside. weight, height. I might be able to suggest a good source

of treatment. Is this the result of an accident, how old is the problem.

Hi Cain, any help would be very much appreciated, she has pain in hands, feet,

knee, ankle and hip joints- bilateral I'm afraid. She says it feels like deep

seated burning and a really bad attack of debilitating flu like symptoms that

just will not go away. She is starting to get nodules in her hands and feet,

feels like walking across a pebbly beach in bare feet.

She fell off a few horses as a child and has been in 2 car accidents resulting

in whiplash, approx 15 and 12 years ago. She had her first bad flare up when she

was approx 25- 10 years ago now

She is approx 5feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 110 lbs, although she has lost

a bit of weight during her recent flare up. I do sometimes wonder about

fibromyalgia and CFS but she was tested for rheumatoid factor and came up

positive. So... the GP seems to think Prozac and steroids are the answer.

She does take Coconut oil and has started a wheat free diet. she gets very low

about it although does not have a depressive personality as a rule. Any help

much appreciated. Kind Regards

Just putting in my 2 cents...try also going dairy and soy free for 2 weeks -

these commonly cause arthritis pain, not sure about rheumatoid arthritis, but

can't hurt to see if it helps at all. Gluten free also, (not just wheat free).

Hope she's able to find some relief!

Have you checked out erythema nodosum? Because it sounds like that. It is one

of the other fun things I have. Luckily it is mild in my case.

Oh... the nodules, if they are permanent, then it is not what I said it is RA,

but she should check out MSM and DMSO anyway.

I have only been taking the MSM for just over 2 weeks and I have to say, there

is some improvement in the joint pain area, more in the skin. In fact the first

thing I noticed was softer cuticles, mine are/were thick and dry and softer

skin.

I had to order the DMSO on line and should have it by Saturday at the latest.

Hoping it speeds up helping with the pain in my right hip, cause that one hurts,

a lot.

Hi Helen:

RA is a tough nut to crack, but lots of MSM does work to some extent

and any other pickin's are slim.
