Duncan-

What do you think about this Diamond V's " SelenoSource AF 2000 "

http://www.diamondv.com/products-organic/ as a low cost selenium

supplement, of course within the context of it being a livestock product

(but neither you nor I are squeamish about that)?

Or- Do you think I and my wife can get enough selenium from Diamond V's XPC

yeast culture (otherwise known as Epicor)?

Original XPC analysis:

DB, it looks like SelenoSource AF 2000 would be good for selenium

supplementation. Rated at 2,000 mg/kg, SelenoSource Selenium Yeast contains up

to 2500 mg/kg (2500 ppm) of selenium. It has undergone a series of washes to

remove residual inorganic selenium salts (which are essentially toxic).

Seems a dose of 400 mcg selenium would be around 200 mg of this supplement; a

big pinch. Please check the math though.

The two other examples won't deliver adequate selenium, considering we won't eat

kilos of this kind of feed supplement.

PS -- we found stabilized rice bran to be too high carb for us to use regularly

as we don't view carbs as " food " anymore and there's little opportunity to hide

it in food even at at an ounce per person per day.

all good,

Duncan

Duncan-

Thanks for that. We figure that my wife has had a lifelong craving for

selenium based on her love of brazil nuts (which I know only contain it if

they are grown in the right soil). They taste like dirt to me. I'm looking

for a source of supplemental selenium that will be cost effective in the

long term but I haven't yet gotten a price on this one.

As for SRB, thanks for the heads up, but it's still doing me good. I have

been TOO successful at giving up carbs, so much so that sometimes my energy

fails for lack of blood sugar. SRB works great for me because I've almost

totally eliminated grains and any cooked veggie that goes carb from my diet.
