Guest guest
If one has a candida overgrowth, could coconut oil cause what felt like an allergic reaction?? Perhaps a detox type of thing, anyone know?? Thanks, Judy
Guest guest
Some of the ladies on the candidiasis group reported a " die off " reaction when they took MCT oil or caprylic acid. I think it's a Herxheimer-Jarisch response to the toxins released during the slaughter of candida and pathogenic microbes. This represents an overload of the liver's function, which requires glutathione, the chief toxin reducer. Undenatured whey and selenium make glutathione. The die-off itself would be much more pronounced when the oil is actually delivered to the infection, so because the oil is quickly assimilated and you would get a reduced response as you go down the tract, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) may be what you're looking at if you react to coconut oil. Unless it's an actual allergy, that is. all good, Duncan > > If one has a candida overgrowth, could coconut oil cause what felt like an > allergic reaction?? Guest guest
It shouldn't be an allergy, as I was taking 2 - 3 TBS, daily up to about a month ago, when I stopped. I've heard that one can develop allergies suddenly, but I've also been using it on my skin and hair, with no problems. This is why I thought it might be candida. Back to the whey and selenium, for sure. Guess sugar is pretty much out for now, tho I'm not heavy on that anyway. Thanks, Duncan!!
