I've been gaining weight from it too, but I think it's because I already eat

my share of fat, in nuts which are high calorie, and my salad dressing is

normally lemon and flax oil, or olive oil, then I also eat avocadoes and nut

butter at times on apples. Not counting my supplements. I think my body

could not process it all, or burn it all, and I'm active. I start my day

(4-5 mornings a week) with a hard 45 min workout, then walk fast for 30 min

at least 5-7 days a week, and do hair standing, not stopping much, snacking

on my nuts and fruit etc. when I can find a few minutes. I have yard work

and house work to do too, so I burn calories, but I think for me, my body

has always been sensitive, where some can eat a lot and not gain , ( like my

husband) but seems I gain too easy even when I haven't eaten that much, but

what I eat. They say you have to have enough calories to gain weight, but I

think, for me, my body reacts and then water is stored too. So I would look

at the whole picture of what else you are taking in, and how active you are,

and see what your body allows.

I ate too much almond butter mixed with coconut oil for a while and gained 5

lbs real fast. I quit, and I lost it. But I recently went to eat out, which

I haven't done in 3 months, and had Mexican, of course the next day 3 lbs.

it took me a week to get that off. But then I got almond butter again, mixed

it with my coconut oil, was going to be good, and one day I just craved it

and ate too much and I had cheese that day, the next day I had 2.6 lbs. I

left it alone the next, and the next day only did one spoon, and I dropped

the 2lbs. I say all this just to give you heads up, in case your body is

sensitive like mine, look at everything and then use smaller amounts of

coconut oil and see how you do.

PS, I crave fats, in the past I used to crave sugar, or breads but that's

been gone, and now it's fats. If you or anyone knows why or if that shows

something wrong, a hidden problem, please let me know.

Coconut Oil

Subject: Can coconut oil cause weight gain?

Hello,

I've been taking 3 TBS. per day of coconut oil since December in three

divided doses. I had read that it is good for speeding up the metabolism and

weight loss, but is this true for everybody? I've been gaining weight and I

hope it is not from the coconut oil as I would hate to give it up.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you very much.

Iris

Calories are calories! If it consumed over and above other fats (and caloric

intake in general) weight gain is guarranteed!

So when taking c.o., consider it as a strictly substitute oil.

I find that I get enough through my meals, as we use it with all our

cooking, exclusively.

If you do this, you will have a 5% advantage on the average. Everyone fares

slightly different though.

About 2.50% from less calories in coconut oil (because of its smaller

molecular structure) and another 2.50% from increased metabolism.

However, one has to watch those carbs like a hawk . That's an area where

weight gain creeps up easier, for most people.

The are other fundamental factors that do interfere with weight loss.

To name a few: Core beliefs, rooted in the subconscious, prolonged JNK gene

expression, emotional/psychological blocks and " plateau " syndromes.

Hope this helps.

Blessings to all,

Nick
