Hi Ducan:

Not to sound totally ignorant, but why not use the Cetaphil for her hair?

I have always used soap for shampoo, but then, being male helps. As

you know, we do not really care about these things much :-) .

Regards,

Jim

>My wife had an itchy rash that turned out to be a reaction to soap and

was alleviated by switching to Cetaphil, which is a soap-free cleanser.

She still reacts to her shampoo, which contains soap. Anyone have input

on soap-free shampoo?

all gopod,

Good point; I asked and she hadn't thought of using Cetaphil in her hair and

said she'd try it. Meanwhile we just got back from the store with some

lauryl/laureth sulfate-free shampoo and natural conditioner. Diagnosis is key; I

was thinking toxin load but the doc was thinking toxin exposure because she has

the same sensitivity.

all good,

Duncan

Duncan,

There is a shampoo alternative made by a company in CA called CAL BEN. It is

made from coconut oil and vegetable protiens. I have had good luck using it as

it does not flare up the eczema on my hands.

I had Seborrheic dermatitis (

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001959/

) on my scalp for...uhm...almost 30 years, almost continuously.

Tar and other spendy 'treatment' shampoos (ex: T-gel, Nizoral) only limited

help.

Then I JUST HAPPENED to buy some ORGANIC shampoo at ye olde Walgreens...cause it

was on sale...and boof! Almost all gone in a week or two.

Now I only buy Fancy-Pants Prissy [*smiles*] Organic Shampoos from Whole Foods

Market...and only every once in a great while, a hickey manifests itself.

I guess there was SOMETHING in commercial shampoo to which I was simply ALLERGIC

allll those yearrrrs of Itchy Scalp and Red Spots, hmm.

Trader Joe's sells sulfate free shampoo - realize none are in Canada but maybe

helpful to someone else.

Apple cider vinegar rinse may help problematic scalp issues.
