Guest guest
I buy mine from Tropicaltraditions.com. Register on their email list and you will see they often run sales on their products. If people want to try it local, I just tell them to buy it in a glass jar. This is hoping that if the company uses glass to package it, then they probably put the best effort into processing it right, then, too. ________________________________ From: Kimmers <kimmerskab@...> Coconut Oil Sent: Thu, January 20, 2011 4:43:34 PM Subject: Good coconut oil  Just wondering what brand has good coconut oil and where to buy it?? Guest guest
As I keep saying, every time this topic arises, I buy from Wilderness Family Naturals. http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/category/coconut-products-coconut-oil.ph\ p Coconut bought from a retailer locally is probably overpriced and may not be from a good source. Guest guest
Quality First International's where I get mine online. The largest coconut oil wholesaler in North America has a range of exotic products including several coconut oil grades and an " extra virgin " oil that distinguishes itself with extraction process that uses no heat at all and uses chilling. The term they use for other virgin oils is " virgin 2 " because their own distinguishing oil is pharmaceutically pure. This results in a very long shelf live of several years with no detectable degradation. all good, Duncan > > Just wondering what brand has good coconut oil and where to buy it?? > > Thanks, > Kim >
Guest guest
And I think Alabar has posted this before as well, there can be problems with Tropical Traditions, my last gallon of oil went bad very quickly, they tend to allow too much moisture to remain behind in the oil, if there is moisture/water in the oil then it won't last like it should. This has happened to me twice with them, so I won't order from them again. Guest guest
Here's the link to Quality First International, the largest distributor of coconut oil in North America. This is the one with the patented cold process coconut oil extraction equipment that yields pharmaceutically pure virgin coconut oil in a single pass: http://www.qualityfirst.on.ca/ They have also refined and heated coconut oils and lots of other exotic products; I'd suggest a look at the shea butter for example. all good, Duncan > > > > > > Just wondering what brand has good coconut oil and where to buy it?? > > > > > > Thanks, > > > Kim > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
I have used Tropical Traditions for over a year and have ordered all sizes; 5 gal buckets, 6 - 1 gallon case, individual gals, cases of quarts and cases of pints and both VCO and Expeller Press ( I supply some to friends). Never once have I ever received any bad product and it has always been " very good. " However, if I had received bad product from a company and they wouldn't replace it, I also would not reorder from them. Just my experience. Guest guest
Although these probably are not the " best " Oils, myself and many on the list use 'Nutiva Extra Virgin Coconut Oil', usually in the 54 oz size for the best value. Amazon sells two containers of it with free shipping, but I'd try out one jar first to see if you like it. iherb.com & Vitacost.com also sell Nutiva. I noticed Swanson has an Organic Extra Virgin Oil that caught my eye, I haven't tried it out yet but its a good price. Nutiva Organic EVCO at Vitaminshoppe http://bit.ly/hm7mJr Amazon (2) with free shipping http://amzn.to/fmjcp7 Swanson's 100% Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWF035/ItemDetail > > I have used Tropical Traditions for over a year and have ordered all sizes; 5 gal buckets, 6 - 1 gallon case, individual gals, cases of quarts and cases of pints and both VCO and Expeller Press ( I supply some to friends). Guest guest
With the longer chain saturated fats removed, QFI's fractionated MCT coconut oil pours, is odourless and tasteless, and has an indefinite shelf life. Maybe excellent for cooking when you don't want the coconut flavour. The Nutra oil looks interesting too. Seems many of the benefits of coconut oil including supplying precursors for ketone body formation, which uses medium and short chain fatty acids, could be had with less oil, maybe a useful thing if one felt the need to restrict saturated fat intake. Butyric acid, the short chain fatty acid mainly found in butter and milk fat and produced by probiotic organisms in the gut, propionic acid, and acetic acid, also made by probiotic bacteria, are all used in ketone body formation and are also food for cells of the intestinal lining. all good, Duncan > > Here's the link to Quality First International, the largest distributor of coconut oil in North America. Guest guest
My gap. Quality First International is pretty much geared for world trade, but I'm an agent and I know that my referrals are welcome. If you email Vinia Marquez the owner and tell her Duncan Crow sez hi and you are from the Coconut Oil and ask her about her Virgin Oil de Coco Creme she will probably chat and send you a sample or two, maybe a Virgin Oil de Coco Creme and something else nice Email: vin@... Phone: 877-441-9479 You'll be impressed with the quality of cold-extracted oil and few wholesalers can hit the price for small orders. The company really wants container orders but Vinia wants to do more small shipments as well. Best thing is serious inquiries only, maybe to order VCO jars by the box or two or by the bucket and ask about a couple of samples so everyone doesn't drain Vinia over the next 2 weeks all good, Duncan > > I am unable to locate prices... > perhaps it is me (or I) :>) > what am I missing here?... > >
Guest guest
let's make the email show the owner Vinia Marquez (vin at qualityfirst.on.ca) as the contact at qualityfirst. all good, Duncan > > > > I am unable to locate prices... > > perhaps it is me (or I) :>) > > what am I missing here?... > > > > >
Guest guest
Greetings All ~ I have read this thread with interest and have not seen a company from which I have purchased oil and dried coconut meat. Tropic Best. I was unsure about it until we used their products and found they were quite acceptable. The prices are pretty good also. I am interested in the groups feedback. Below I have cut and pasted from their website. I am impressed that they are certified organic and koshur as well. http://tropicsbest.com/ Virgin Coconut Oil Tropic Best's certified organic virgin coconut oil is produced from freshly pressed coconut milk which is centrifuge processed to separate the oil from water and solids. They have several selections of types of shred and sizes, the only one I copied here is the 1 lb shredded (dried) x case of 12 = $12.00 These are pretty good prices, and so far the quality is fine, and I have to explain that we were skeptical and have been happy with their products. Guest guest
I haven't seen anyone mention Crystal Coco out of Toronto, Canada. They produce their own high quality, cold-pressed oil, coconut flour, coconut butter and desiccated coconut out of Vietnam. The price is really good too. Their site is http://www.crystalcoco.com and have a distributor in Atlantic Canada at http://www.downeastcoconut.com Naturally Yours, Chef > > > > Just wondering what brand has good coconut oil and where to buy it?? > > > > Thanks, > > Kim > > >
Guest guest
I just noticed Swanson's also carries Nutiva at a better price than the other stores. http://www.swansonvitamins.com/NTV001/ItemDetail?n=0 Also if shopping at Vitaminshoppe in-store, ask if they'll match the website's price, usually they do without a problem. > > Although these probably are not the " best " Oils, myself and many on the list use 'Nutiva Extra Virgin Coconut Oil', usually in the 54 oz size for the best value.
