Guest guest
I'm recovering from a bout of Gastroenteritis. Should I take probiotics to help me heal? Anything else? Thanks. Tim

Guest guest
Tim, inulin by itself has reversed antibiotic-associated diarrhea, which is an enteritis infection, in much less time than no treatment. Probiotics may help if you use a lot of them; in the candidaisis group the most potent probiotic discussed was VSL#3, which contains 450 billion CFU per serving. When we discussed it we figured that 1/3 of a dose, 150 billion CFU, with inulin, would be adequate, and it has been. Still, 150 billion is 50 capsules of 3 billion CFU or 19 capsules of 8 billion CFU. This would be why VSL#3 is sold in a pouch rather than as capsules. In addition to the inulin, undenatured whey concentrate may be of interest because it provides several sugars that prevent pathogen adhesion on the bowel wall. The details are here: http://tinyurl.com/whey-adhesion all good, Duncan > > I'm recovering from a bout of Gastroenteritis. Should I take probiotics to help me heal? Guest guest
I would start with charcoal first (before taking pre and probiotics), particularly if you are still having symptoms. > > I'm recovering from a bout of Gastroenteritis.
