Guest guest
Huuman, I was just on the Mercola site reading the commentaries about this article. since you posted about it I will make sure to listen Dr. Seneff as well - thank you. Wanted to ask you... I bought some MSM capsules/tablets from Swanson. I know that powder/flakes are preferred, but with the reported awful taste by many but not all I wanted to avoid the taste. Plus I take colostrum, whey, amino acids and it is difficult to fit in another poor tasting powder. Anyway my issue - I have a bad headache from bottom of neck to forehead and fairly extreme malaise some dizziness muscle aches -similar to flu like symptoms. I noticed that my nails are stronger though. I probably take around 3 grams on most days of the week and was increasing a little bit the past few days. Are these reactions to the msm normal? I am willing to work through it if likely a detox reaction. If I start using the powder form do you know of any issues mixing it in whey or amino acids? elaine > > *Video: Interview with Dr. Seneff, nutrition expert, on Organic Sulfur > <http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/09/17/stephanie-seneff-\ on-sulfur.aspx?e_cid=20110917_DNL_art_1> > > This is a long, but most interesting video. Guest guest
I have been doing the MSM for just over a week, and I have had the headache you describe too. Hopefully its just a temporary detox thing. ________________________________ From: elaine1231 <elaine1231@...> Coconut Oil Sent: Sat, September 17, 2011 9:22:20 PM Subject: Re: Organic Sulfur and Your Health Huuman, I was just on the Mercola site reading the commentaries about this article. since you posted about it I will make sure to listen Dr. Seneff as well - thank you. Guest guest
Could be detox...but could also be MSM moving mercury around...it's not a true chelator in that it can't take the mercury out of your body, just move it around - headache can result. BTW, same thing can happen w/ alpha lipoic acid..it CAN chelate mercury from the brain, but if you take too much and still have mercury in your fillings, it will cause a headache or other symptoms. Anyway, hope it goes away for you! > > > > *Video: Interview with Dr. Seneff, nutrition expert, on Organic Sulfur > ><http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/09/17/stephanie-seneff\ -on-sulfur.aspx?e_cid=20110917_DNL_art_1> > >> > > > > This is a long, but most interesting video. Guest guest
Hi elane: There should be no reaction to MSM. Most likely, you are suffering from a release of toxins... weather it completely before increasing the amounts. Powder just gets it into your system in higher amounts which you don't want right now. In fact, I would cut back some till these symptoms go away. MSM does not conflict with any other supplements that I am aware of and I have always taken a hand full per day. Certainly, whey provides sulfur also. Duncan has made me into a whey fanatic, by the way (pun intended). I can't get over how such a simple chemical like organic sulfur can have such a profound and widespread benefit and take so long for us to reveal. Great video, huh? Cheers, Jim >Huuman, I was just on the Mercola site reading the commentaries about this article. since you posted about it I will make sure to listen Dr. If I start using the powder form do you know of any issues mixing it in whey or amino acids? elaine<

It isn't just about the flakes being preferred, it is about purity - the others containing fillers/binders that are not desirable - and efficacy - taking the flakes and swishing it around in the mouth allows virtually *all* of the MSM to be absorbed directly into the system, bypassing the digestive system (thereby avoiding any potential problems that large doses of MSM can cause some people in the digestive tract). > Plus I take colostrum, whey, amino acids and it is difficult to fit > in another poor tasting powder. 'Poor tasting'?? My whey and colostrum taste great, so if yours taste bad, maybe you are using bad brands? Or maybe you just have 'picky' taste buds... Anyway, taking the MSM the way huuman recommends you can hardly taste it at all, just like when you eat/drink something and 'hold your nose' at the same time - although you have to get the hang of it. > Anyway my issue - I have a bad headache from bottom of neck to > forehead and fairly extreme malaise some dizziness muscle aches > -similar to flu like symptoms. I do know I am taking 30-40 grams per day, and have *no* side effects.
Guest guest
Thanks, but I think I am past the worst of it...I feel only mildly icky and a very mild headache which isn't as bad today as it was yesterday. And the headache may just be my nephew who is living with me. Weren't you the one, or was it " T " that said I shouldn't start low? That it wasn't worth the trouble if I didn't gobble down 1/2cups of it.. [exaggerating a little bit here]... I think I may actually be impressed with MSM but it is too early to tell for sure.. Has anybody ever dealt with someone who has inflammation just about everywhere???? Because I am pretty sure that is me. Is there an actual name for this? I don't have fibromyalgia and I don't think I have CFS because I am rarely " fatigued " . But I do have inflammation just about everywhere. Lungs, stomach, subcutaneous skin... muscles.. and Urinary tract.... I may actually be one of those people that will have to take a lot of MSM. But I still maintain that if you don't have a lot of health problems you should not need, nor will you body use much of any particular nutrient. ________________________________ From: Huuman <huuman60@...> Coconut Oil Sent: Mon, September 19, 2011 12:07:20 PM Subject: Re: Organic Sulfur and Your Health Hi : If I was unclear in my previous post, please listen carefully: You are undoubtedly experiencing a release of toxins. I recommend that you cut back until your problems go away. Stored mercury is not so dangerous in your body fat, but as we know, can cause all sorts of problems in your gut. Of course, it could be just about any sort of toxin that MSM frees up, but you get the picture. Just my opinion. Regards, Jim >That is pretty much what I read... but I am already up to 12 grams a day.. and plan to stay there for the rest of this month and if the headache doesn't go away, I will lower it and go up slower. I said you shouldn't *start* low - but that you could cut back *if* you indeed had some kind of negative reaction to the larger doses. I maintain that it is a waste of time to *start* at low doses without confirming first that you *need* to start at lower doses. I understand and agree that everyone is different, and some people may *need* to.

And again - the lack of *symptoms* does not equate to 'no health problems'. This is evidenced by some people who may believe they are healthy, but have a severe reaction to a large dose of MSM or any other detoxifying nutrient - or 'catch' the flu whenever it makes the rounds at the office. I eat my colostrum by the tablespoon... My whey shake consists of (in a 12 oz glass): 1/2 water 2 capfuls of the Fulvic/Humic Acid Mineral blend 2 scoops whey contents of one 200mg selenium capsule one teaspoon of inulin 1 tablespoon of MCT oil (just started adding this) then, fill the glass to the top with raw cream yum!
