Joanie,

I felt like that too, walking on a stump, at first. I am almost 5 months out and

it is alot better now. The only thing that creeps me out is I have no feeling on

the one side of my knee and leg. Feels really strange! The more you do the

exercises and walk on it that feeling goes away. I will wait till next summer to

have my other knee done. I wanted to wait a year for the other one to heal more.

I hope I can hold out that long. the " good " knee is acting up alot and causing

me grief. I am back to taking a prescription anti-inflammatory (mobic) and pain

pills (ultram) again. the doctor said if it doesn't get better by January then I

will go for an MRI to see what is up. He wants me to maybe have a scope but I

would much rather have the whole thing done. I just hope it gets better for now.

I don't have any vacation left at work so I need to wait the year. I hope yours

gets better.

Joint Replacement

I am almost 6 weeks out from a TKR and sometimes it feels like I am

walking on stilts or it feels like I am walking on a stump. Anyone else

have this sensation? Of course, I still feel the stiffness but this

stump feeling is bothersome. Also, sometimes I think I can feel the top

and bottom of the new knee. Anyone else? The only way it goes away is

when I put on a pair of T.E.D. hose.

Now, my doctor says I am ready for my other knee to be done in 2 weeks

but I just don't know if this feeling will go away. I don't like it and

I don't want to feel this is both knees for the rest of my life. The

doctor said I will have swelling for 6 months and that is what it is. I

would love to hear from others on this matter. Also is it smart to have

the other knee done so soon after the first? If I have it done now, I

won't have to pay for it as I reached my out of pocket maximum on my

insurance.
