Guest guest
Thanks, . I will check into the pedondtist options in our area. We are not anti-braces, but just not so young. We already have issues with oral hygiene and I fear 18 months of additional crooks and crannies will lead to cavities. So far, our best option is with a orthodontist who wants to use a removable appliance. A shwartz, maybe the same thing you are speaking of. Thanks again- Kelli > > > What I know is, some movement and correction of can be achieved with dental > appliances by a general Dentist or by a Pedodontist who has further training > in Ortho. Guest guest
Kelli, My son had a very narrow jaw, just like his uncle who had 5 permanent teeth removed to make room for his teeth. He had 3 teeth come in and there was absolutely no room for a fourth as the space was filled. He had an expander put in and the teeth dropped down nicely. Think he was about 8 at the time. As I recall, braces later on would have been much more involved. Our orthodontist was a bit ahead of many other orthodontists who just practiced the traditional way with not a lot of curiosity or investigative outlook. Worked out great for him—beautiful teeth now. Guest guest
, Thank you for your words of reassurance. I'm not one to " practice the traditional way with not a lot of curiosity or investigative outlook " either, so I suppose I question the method and motivation of every allopathic doctor we have to see ! I was hoping for a home remedy or easy fix, but alas, I will tap out the feelings of mistrust and anxiety. Thanks to everyone who responded. Onward and upward, Kelli > > Kelli, > > My son had a very narrow jaw, just like his uncle who had 5 permanent teeth removed to make room for his teeth.
