Guest guest
Of course any muscle building you do will be helpful! I am waiting for a surgical date...likely late november for my first tka, then the other one 6 weeks later. i go to hospital physio 3 times a week to build up leg muscles, therapeutic massage twice a week, the pool twice a week, and the gym (for upper body exercises) 3 times a week. I have also been using forearm crutches so I will be totally comfortable with them. As a pleasant byproduct, I have discovered I can actually walk more than half a block if I use the crutches!! Get in the best shape you can before surgery..it can't but help!
Guest guest
Hmmm. That's an idea. Learn to walk with the forearm crutches now. Did you just go to a medical supply place and buy them? The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for. Re: Re: bilateral knee replaceme Of course any muscle building you do will be helpful! Guest guest
I got the foreram crutches from a friend who had his second set of THRs a few years ago. But here, you can borrow them from the Red Cross, or I am sure could buy them from a medical supply store. The physiotherapist I am seeing pre surgery says they are much better to use than standard crutches.
