Guest guest
I don't have a doctor and went to a lab on my own and had blood work done, after fasting. My last blood work was 2 years ago, Cholesterol was 126. HDL 58 and LDL 57 Now today 2 years later, age 48, My Cholesterol went up to 203 , HDL 124, and LDL 63. They have red flag on it for high Cholesterol; that normal average 0-199 even though HDL is said to be good, they have it flagged as high too. Since that is to be the good cholesterol is that okay??? Does anyone know for sure, and not just guess. Triglyceride is 78 their average or what they call normal is 0-149 WBC was low, 3.8 their average is 4.0-11.0 I have been fighting allergies in the atmosphere, like mold and pollen, maybe that is the cause of that? They were to do a full panel and missed part of it so I have to go back (for free) to have them take more blood on what they forgot to run! They did do hormones and DHEA though, DHEA was 60 out of 24-460 scale. What do you think on that for adrenals? As I know their scales are mostly based on the average person. If you know a good website I can look at for hormones and blood work results please send link. Thank you! Lori E

It is fine - actually, those numbers are an *improvement*, since the *ratio* (HDL to LDL) is what is most important. Do yourself a favor - stop obsessing about cholesterol, and worry more about eating healthy and learning how to exercise smart (HIIT). Guest guest
I know that Cholesterol is not the main factor and some miss information in the medical field, but I have never heard of anyone's HDL so high, even though it is the good one. I do eat healthy and exercise, I will read more about the High intensity interval training, I don't do it so much, I do workouts such as P90X, Jillian s, etc, or put on music and use free weights and do my own thing, and go for a walk " fast " and sometimes run a little in-between. Only walk when going up the hills though. Guest guest
" T " is right, its the ratio that's important... so your doing good. Just keep on doing what your doing. You know, there is really so much controversy about cholesterol levels and with the exception of those few people with really high cholesterol levels like up in the 500's there is no real correlation between cholesterol levels and heart disease. Guest guest
Isn't it the size of the particles that matter? Whether they are small or large and fluffy? Dr Wm at The Heart Scan Blog talks about certain types of food promoting one size or the other. Wheat, gluten, etcetera promoting the dangerous small cholesterol particles. Think he believes in low carb.
Guest guest
I never had 203 before, and I thought since the good cholesterol was high it was okay, if that’s how they get their figure for that number, but I wanted some input to be sure. Guest guest
No health problems that I know about, just checking on myself to see. Last year I fainted, not the usual blackout for a moment from getting up too fast or working in yard getting too hot etc, but at night I was changing the thermostat and the next thing I knew I was waking up because my face hit the wall and then I fell backward and onto the floor, wondering how I got there when I could see again. Then I remembered what I was doing. That was kinda scary, but I never went to a doctor, ( I don't have one ) But I had worked at salon 10 hours straight no sit down time that day and life beside that very busy, so I figured I just had too much on my plate and it built up? I get tired at times, and thought something's up with that, but I believe it was hormones changing, and then I got realistic about the life I live, the way I go all the time, who wouldn't get tired. So I blew off going to doctor, and have not had anymore passing out. But the years before that I had another scary thing, I felt like a back wash in my chest/heart area, and my heart raced and my breathing got funny, I talked to a few people, one being a nurse who had the exact same thing, she went to heart doctor, he said it was stress, too much on her plate, and it may become a heart issue if she didn't slow down. I just took some magnesium and Hawthorn berry, stuff for adrenals and potassium and it got better. Years ago 15 maybe? I went to a doctor who was into natural stuff and was an internal med doctor too. I had joint pains so bad and wondered what it was,( he didn't know, but within 2 years they left) and while I was there asked him about the blackouts, he took my blood pressure several times, sitting, standing laying down, he said most peoples blood pressure goes up when standing ,but mine goes down. He listen to my heart and said he thought I had a slight Mitral valve prolapse. I also have spider veins, and my legs swell when standing a lot. I take herbs for that. So that's my health issues But most of the time I'm fine, just get tired.I'm 48, but don't think I am J Thanks, Lori E From: Coconut Oil [mailto:Coconut Oil ] On Behalf Of Tanstaafl Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 5:41 AM Coconut Oil Subject: Re: NEW; my cholesteral went way up on blood work On 2011-09-26 5:13 PM, llje <llje@... <mailto:llje%40cox.net> > wrote: > I know that Cholesterol is not the main factor and some miss information in > the medical field, but I have never heard of anyone's HDL so high, even > though it is the good one. Guest guest
Hi : My advice is forget about it.... cholesterol is very poor marker for anything. Read Jon Barron's pages on this... he is very good and not too technical. Regards, Jim Isn't it the size of the particles that matter? Whether they are small or large and fluffy? Guest guest
Hi Lori: Your numbers were low and now sound much better. Not that I put much weight in cholesterol counts. Guest guest
The only thing I can think is I eat a lot of healthy fats, avocadoes, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, flax meal, flax and olive oil for salad with lemon juice, fish oil, evening primrose oil, a little coconut oil.I have cut back the carbs. (not the fruits and vegies) I eat fish, some chicken, turkey, a little red meat, not much.Been that way for a long time. But carbs have been less, and more healthy fats. That's what it must be.J Lori E From: Coconut Oil [mailto:Coconut Oil ] On Behalf Of Huuman Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2011 2:32 PM Coconut Oil Subject: Re: NEW; my cholesteral went way up on blood work Hi Lori: Your numbers were low and now sound much better.
