The higher the heel, the more your knee is forced straight (i.e. into

extension) and sometimes even hyperextension. This is very stressful

on the kneecap and possibly could have contributed to your arthritis

before your TKR. If you have any tightness on the back side of your

TKR knee from the surgery, wearing your heels forces the extension and

then you have microtears in the soft tissue and muscles, then that has

to heal so you get swelling. You can of course ice to help with the

swelling and the pain after you wear your heels. If you can continue

to stretch that area, the problem might go away after a while. A long

while.

By the way, the high heels also force your low back to hyperextend.

My 2000 RTKR is much looser on the back side than my 2008 LTKR

but I'm not too surprised as things were much the same only worse

before the surgery too.
