Guest guest
I had Total Knee Replacement on my left knee on July 8th. Here we are 2 months later and I am still in alot of pain. I can not go up and down stairs without using a cane, much less walk without a cane. I can not lay on either side when I sleep at night. I have to sit up in bed, with pillows behind my back, for support. This has been a terrible recovery for me. I am in pain every single day and night. Now my good knee and my lower back are beginning to hurt. I expected alot more from this surgery. I am worse than before the surgery. Guest guest
Are you in physical therapy. Are you faithfully doing your exercises on your own between appointments? Are you using ice regularly? I'm 6 weeks out from my 3rd knee replacement (due to infection) in my left knee...walking (slight limp) with no assistance, the PT can bend my knee to 95-100 degrees which is great when you've had 3 joints in 1 knee; have less pain than I had; still have some swelling but it is better. It will take 6 months at least for all of the pain to go away. These things take time, everyone heals differently but it is absolute that 1 must really work at PT to recover and that ice will help with the swelling and pain. Guest guest
I'm so sorry Margaret. I had so much more success than that with my TKR. What sort of PT did you have? I was still doing a couple of days a week at the two-month mark. I also iced my knee almost every evening. Do you still have some swelling? I did sleep on the couch almost two and a half months because it was more comfortable than the bed. TKR update I had Total Knee Replacement on my left knee on July 8th. Guest guest
I hate those words " I am worse off t han before surgery " I wish I could say something consoling but I know that happens to some people and it's not pleasant. I wish you well and at least relief of pain. Lynn > > I had Total Knee Replacement on my left knee on July 8th. Here we are > 2 months later and I am still in alot of pain. Guest guest
im sorry you are in pain..i also am its been 9mths since my surgery......still hopen to be pain free Tigs From: Goodman <goodman156@...> Subject: Re: TKR update Joint Replacement Date: Friday, September 12, 2008, 11:51 PM Are you sure you do not have an infection? They can be smoldering and not showing really obvious signs - except PAIN - which you have to emphasize to your doctor. I think that if you are doing everything you were told to do, including icing, PT, exercise, etc., and your pain is that bad after 2 months, there may be something wrong and you need to BUG your doctor. If your surgeon won't help, go to an orthopedist, infectious disease doc, anyone, to get a second opinion. claire Callahan Goodman had Total Knee Replacement on my left knee on July 8th.
