The only time I really do like water is when I am extremely thirsty, then I guzzle it. I know I need to drink more and do make an effort. What I need to do is start carrying around my " bottle " again. LOL Then I drink it all the time. I seem to get dehydrated too often. At one of my 2nd Remicade appt the test came back that I was dehydrated. After that, I have really made it a conscious effort to drink more fluids. When I went to my last Remicade appt, I took a huge orange juice from Mc's to drink. After that test came back, I started monitoring how much I drink and noticed that I had been going through the day nursing 1 soda. Bad me. ~

Guest guest
I'm glad to hear it is being covered on the news. I wish they would put it on billboards, commercials, and anywhere else that would send the message. For those that are new here and don't understand my obsession for water 1.01, here is why: Ever since I had to take different meds, especially pain meds, I have had a problem with constipation. X-Lax, prune juice and Metamucil were my daily companions. My plumbing still didn't work properly, but prescription strength laxatives would send me in the bathroom doubled up for hours. One day while researching for the group I read an article about water and dehydration. I knew about the fluid balance of the body, but never really applied it to myself because I really didn't like water! I started drinking water with lemon, and within a week, I had myself up to the recommended 64ozs. I have now developed a taste for water, and enjoy it! Within about 2 weeks, my constipation problem was a memory. I have NOT had to take any type of laxatives since starting my water regiment. My skin feels and looks better. I've posted a lot of info about the benefits of water to our kidneys and our entire system. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rysu19@...> < egroups> Sent: Saturday, April 29, 2000 11:19 PM Subject: [ ] Water > My local news does a health report everyday and yesterday it was on WATER. > They said that we should be drinking between 10 and 12 glasses a day, rather > than just 8. > > ~ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Accurate impartial advice on everything from laptops to table saws. > 1/3020/4/_/478567/_/957064798/ > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > URL to change your membership options: /group/ > RA-support website: http://www.rasupport.webprovider.com/ > Our chat room: www.delphi.com/RheumatoidArth1/start >
Guest guest
, I always had my coffee cup by my side, and drank at least 10 cups a day. Coffee and soda are not even considered fluid intake. They cause more dehydration. I've cut my coffee way down to 2 cups in the morning and one after dinner. I didn't like water either, that is why I didn't drink it. Try adding a piece of lemon. You really do develop a taste for it. It takes a few weeks, but then you'll be craving it! Don't wait until you feel thirsty. Thirst is a symptom of dehydration, and by the time you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rysu19@...> < egroups> Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2000 1:22 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Water > > After a posted all the information about water and why we need it a few > > months ago, I started to drink a lot of water - often 6 or 7 bottles of > > 16oz of water. Guest guest
Yes, Remember I use to have really bad diaherra and took Imodium? I thought it was Enbrel? I don't know why, but drinking this much water has stopped the diaherra. On days I drink less than 6 or 7 bottles, I run to the toilet more the next day. I know, water is suppose to clear out your plumbling, but for me, it seems to stabalize it. I still have very dry skin, and probably always will, as I have since a child. Since I began to use Secrets lotions and body wash last year, my skin feels much better. I can only imagine how dry my skin would be now with age, no water, and no Secret! I don't plan to find out! , At 01:54 PM 4/30/2000 -0400, you wrote: >Good for you Judy! Guest guest
Okay, I see what Water 101 is ..... When I was pregnant with my first child, my doctor told me I HAD to drink 64 oz of water daily ~ at the time I was lucky to drink maybe 2 glasses ~ just didn't like it at all. So, wanting to do everything right with my first child, I thought how am I going to make sure I drink that much water, when I don't like the taste of it. I bought a tupperware-like pitcher and filled it with water and placed it in the fridge. I knew that if I drank the entire container by the end of the day, I was in the clear. After a few days, it became a habit and the water being cold, lost some of its *tappy* taste, which I disliked. I never have had a problem with constipation since. I now drink 2 of those containers daily!! Of course having the dry mouth makes me drink it even more. I haven't given up coffee ~ I still drink my morning cups (4). I read somewhere that if you drink 1 cup of a caffeinated beverage, you need to make sure to drink an additional cup of water to counter the effects of the caffeine. I still would like to figure out a way not to have to use those outhouses at the Fort over the 4th of July!!! This is where I wish my anatomy in that department was like a guy!! LOL!! Guest guest
Sandy, It sounds like you've passed water 101! Yes, I wish my anatomy made it easier to dispose of all the water. Have you ever wondered why the woman years ago wore long skirts? It may be much easier watering the bushes with a skirt on I'm glad you also developed a taste for it! Maybe others here will give it a chance. I don't think there is anything wrong with your coffee drinking because you are not counting it as water intake, and you're drinking plenty of water! a ----- Original Message ----- From: " O'Malley " <wildcards@...> < egroups> Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2000 2:28 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Water > > > > Okay, I see what Water 101 is ..... > > When I was pregnant with my first child, my doctor told me I HAD to drink 64 > oz of water daily ~ at the time I was lucky to drink maybe 2 glasses ~ just > didn't like it at all. Guest guest
Hi Connie, I try to drink a LOT of water. This Az heat demands it, especially since a lot of my work is done in new construction. Lack of water will bring on what feels like the beginning of an exacerbation, which goes away pretty fast as soon as I get a few glasses of water in me. :0)
Guest guest
I think if a person is mainly a vegetarian/organic eater and has encorporated alot of other good stuff like PP, TN, TT etc. than you will be getting an enormous amount of the good usable vitamins and minerals. If this is the case, as with me than I beleive my water distiller is the best choice. Dr. Mercola also knows this and has commented on this in the past (don't ask me to find it). He also mentions the spring water, but do you have any idea how rare that is to find ? This also he has commented on. I recently watched an OPB special on water. They tested water in lakes where no man has been and found them highly polluted by rain w/ all sorts of pesticides etc. Every ounce of water on the face of the earth is contaminated. Water has been here longer than anything, we can't make new water. The same water we drink today the dinasours drank and urinated out millions of years ago. I wouldn't trust anyones bottled water regardless the process. Where is Culligan, what cities, what is contiminating there sources, have you received a report on there filter cycles and do they put this water in plastic for our consumption. I'm only a few months into ownership of a distiller and I use to buy RO from a local place but I have little trust in people anymore especially where water is concerned. I'm not an expert either so I'm just spouting off here. As many know the minerals put in your local water supply are inorganic and not digestable so that means to me we become a waste dump for them. I water my houseplants w/ tap and am amazed at the mineral buildup on the pots and soil. BTW- I'm not angry here at all, or attacking just putting forth my view nothing more, I just encourage everyone to read. Remember that RO water is only as good as your persistance in filter changes, which adds up in expense, but hey if you can afford it than go for it. Pam IU am stuck on what water to be drinking. I think highly of Dr. Mercola and he says stay away from distilled water. I have been drinking the reverse osmosis you buy by the 5 gallon jug from the store. (Culligan) Anyway--I have been looking at counter top filters for awhile, and I have been thinking about the Multi-pure and a countertop filter from Nikken. Do you all know anything about these sorts of filters? Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Discover the best of the best at MSN Luxury Living. http://lexus.msn.com/

Tap? And what is "a lot of water" to you? Sometimes when I think I'm drinking a lot of water it might be two quarts on Monday and by Friday it's down to two cups and I still think I'm drinking a lot of water! Also, are you adding anything to your water? Celtic sea salt? Do you drink anything with caffiene? Even if the drink is not "brown" it still may have caffiene. Mountain Dew comes to mind, it has more caffiene than coffee and is almost a clear liquid. Just a couple of things to consider. Also, do you still eat wheat? That is a huge trigger for a headache with me and a dehydrator to my body. FWIW - Shari
