Guest guest
Hi All: Some things that I have discovered in developing this protocol: Powdered MSM is absolutely O.K.. The consistency is only important in terms of ingestion. Finer is easier to get down for me and getting down lots of it is key to making this work. Try the different kinds and use what you like. The key to making this stuff work is in how it is taken and, as I said, how much you take. The best way to get it in your body is to take a heaping tablespoon of it followed by some water, swish it around till the cool taste is gone and swallow. The point is that you absorb it best right in your mouth. Some like it, some don't, but I suggest that you adapt... and heal. I discovered about fifteen years ago that, in this case, quantity does rule. If you are hurting take as much as you can ingest and take it often. I have taken over 1/2 cup/day for weeks on end... until the pain was gone. Pain is your key to knowing that you need to be maximizing it. After the pain is gone cut back to a few grams... if it returns, lay it on. Other joint supplements complement MSM, but none come close to equaling what this protocol achieves. The interesting thing about MSM is that it is a great pain killer as well as a healing medicine. When you take a scoop, you will notice that the pain is diminished quite a bit. I have no dog in this hunt, I am an architect, not a health care professional, but I know that this works and works better than you can believe. I have healed any number of joint problems that my sports doc swore could not be healed on myself as well as friends, and family members. It is cheap to implement; it works amazingly quickly... and I pass it on out of pure gratitude. Kind Regards, Jim
Guest guest
Just to add to the general information, I have been taking MSM for over a decade. I've found that results coincide with dosage. I've used up to two tablespoons at once. Usually a teaspoonful is enough. Chuck I xeroxed my watch. Now I have time to spare. -- On 3/19/2011 2:04:31 AM, Sorensen (travisjsorensen@...) wrote: > Hi Don, > I just started the msm so am not able to say anything at this point. Guest guest
Jim Sums it up rather well. I was taking 1000 mg capsules twice a day and (of course) did not make any difference... I have ordered a kilo (2.2 Lbs) and will up my intake to 1/2 a cup per day .. Will report to the list Thanks for the post Frantz From: jim <huuman60@...> Subject: Re: msm Coconut Oil Date: Saturday, March 19, 2011, 10:34 PM Hi All: Some things that I have discovered in developing this protocol: Powdered MSM is absolutely O.K.. While it is possible that the flakes could be higher quality - meaning you wouldn't need to take as much, since the granular form is not in any way 'bad' for you - I agree there is no reason not to take it, especially since it is so much cheaper... That said, I prefer the best of both worlds, so will be taking the OptiMSM flakes. I'm still waiting to hear back on how much I can get these for buying direct, but if necessary I'll settle for the $8-9/lb price I found on ebay (buying 20kg at a time). 20kg - that's 44lbs - should last a good long while, even if I'm giving it away. Incidentally - do you know the shelf life of MSM (assuming it is packed well in a sealed container)?

Hi, just in case this suggestion helps someone else re taking MSM orally, I have found that if I stir it into grape juice, the taste is not too bad..at least for me. I I have tried other juices to camouflage the taste but none has worked as well as grape juice. Taffy

It took a while for the cool taste to go away, and it took a lot of swiching and gentle chewing to grind the flakes down to the point it was almost all liquid, but I'm happy to say, the tast and after taste wasn't nearly as bad as it is when I add it to water, mix it for a few minutes, then drink it down... why I don't know. Anyway, thanks Jim for the prodding... this will save me a lot of time making the capsules... but I'll still probably need to make them for my mom and dad, who are not as adventurous as I am... Guest guest
Hi Margo, I don't believe your stomach needs to be empty. I have been taking it with food myself. I don't know much about it, but what I know is that it is a digestive aid (maybe like an herbal bitter). I have been taking it for a few weeks. I do not have any issues that would make me know it is working yet. I am just taking it to aid in digestion and hope along the way I see happy results. I know it is good for hair, skin and nails, and I am hoping my thinned hair starts to fill back in . Guest guest
Taffy, For me tablets of MSM are convenient to take with me to work. But tablets are no fun for me to swallow. So I put the tablets in my mouth, then take a swig of Vitamin C water and chew up the tablets. Hardly any taste at all. I am guessing your use of MSM with grape juice is similar. No idea if is the sourness of the fluid, or the vitamin C content. The downside to tablets though is the binders, and with the quantities we are talking about, that's a lot of binders... unless msm doesn't require binders for some reason? Guest guest
I am not a big fan of binders, but I do not shun them either. Taking MSM powder meant have yet another supplement jar and spoo to take to work along with my meal and 2 tupperware containers of pills, tablets, capsules. Yeah, it is a pain and can quickly get out of hand... I prefer whole food 'supplements' to pills whenever possible, but even with that I use a whole shelf at work to keep all my 'stuff' - currently: whey, selenium, inulin, msm, coconut oil, 'green stuff', rice bran, vit d, PB8, maca, two different charcoals, clay and vit C... then there's the raw cream, fulvic acid minerals and ultimate omega fish oil in the fridge... Guest guest
One other thing I failed to mention. Some of my arthritis pain arises from oxalate intake & /or oxalate dumping. If I take massive amounts of MSM, oxalate problems are masked. I like to be aware of what my oxalates are doing. So 2 grams, twice a day enables me to alleviate much pain, and allow me to put on gloves, button a shirt, etc., but does no mask oxalate pain which I feel I need to keep close tabs upon. Wow, there is a huge range of amounts people are using... Jim says he is using many times this amount... a half cup a day Or at least, the stuff I bought says each teaspoon is 4 grams, which means a half cup is... well, a LOT more than 2 grams... Looks like you could combine those, maybe except the greens and charcoal, into a pretty good glyconutrient pudding. Since maca increases testosterone and we don't know how much, maybe taking DIM would be your next supplement to add; it recycles the estradiols, preventing BPH and hopefully cancer. all good, Duncan > > I am not a big fan of binders, but I do not shun them either.
