Guest guest
Dear , I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I'm having a tough time finding help with my 2 year old autistic daughter also. But, here is what I did last night that you could try. I emailed all of the depts of psychology of all the major universities asking for a college volunteer to come and work with my daughter. I haven't heard back from any but I just emailed late last night. I REALLY hope I get a response. If not, I'll go there myself and put up flyers and maybe speak to one of the Deans. Here are all the univerities and their dept of psychology email addresses: psychdept@... Case Western Reserve psychology@... Cleveland State University gradpsyc@... Kent State Univ. info@... Baldwin-Wallace Maybe if we get enough people to email, they will set something up for us. Wouldn't that be great? Let me know how it goes. Take care,
Guest guest
, is your son in a public school preschool?? Since he is 5, can they provide a full day for him?? And if so, and public school that receives federal funds (which they ALL do) for ANY reason (including free lunch programs, reading first, etc) if they have an after schoolprogram for the kids, they are responsible for offering it to your child as well....with appropriate supports in place for the child.......Cheri****
Guest guest
Not quite sure where you live in cuyahoga county...but why not go after using the Ohio Autism Scholarship to implement his IEP and take him to a full day preschool that is better equipped to deal with his needs. You can get up to $5000 for 3 of 4 quarters at an approved provider. (I know of a preschool in particular on the southwest side of the county that is particular good) I am not quite sure what kind of supports your district is offering you (the scholarship does relinquish the school districit from any responsibilities) If you have any questions email me off list...we are currently going through this with our daughter (She is 2 1/2 we are implementing it in the fall) Patty > Hello all, > > What does a parent of an autistic child do when they need child > care?
