Hi LynnWhen she asked me about meds, she did not ask about supplements. MSM is a supplement and I'm on it too. I guess it could mess with what shows up, so I am going to go off it for a while too - thank YOU for mentioning it Lynn - my appointment is just one week away. I was surprised how quickly Jane could get me in. Fhew! So I know you all will be going down a different day, but would be fun to meet all of you too. My brothers (2) live down there so I'll make it a fun trip to see fam. Jane sounds very nice. The interview was very straight forward. She said to me, "oh, you definitely qualify." I told a CFS non-Morgellons/birdmite friend about the study and she is going to try to get in too. I hope she can. One of my best friends. Used to be a very good psychotherapist and on disability for 20 years, lives like a pauper. Always wish I could do more for her. Re: Oil pulling

I have talked about oil pulling right from the begaining when I first joined. Done it off and on for a few years. I still try to do the oil pulling but fall out of habit when to many things start to take up my time. So been off a couple of weeks now and feel a real need to get back to it. Not sure if I should be taking the MSM before getting blood work. It might weaken a strain and make a test come out negative. Does anyone know if that can happen. Oh by the way. I had to stay at the kids house today to help out and missed the phone call yet again. She left a message that they would try to interveiw me tomarrow between 11 a.m. and 1 pm. Yeah...and there was much rejoicing. (Mighty Phython Style) Wish Tony would try to get into this study. Thank you Margarite. If I remember right the 5 or 6 will work best for you?? And thank you so much for pushing me into this direction. I can hardly wait to meet you in person. Should I stop taking my MSM. All opinions welcome. In Light Lynn>> Bobby I know you are the one to bring the oil pulling to this site. I did it for awhile and it seemed to be really good! Do you still do it? Jo Indeed oil pulling for the simplicity and wonders is well worth the time

every morning, in my opinion. I have found coconut oil the best for me, although

the studies indicated sesame seed and sunflower the best. I have tried all and

still go back to the coconut. You may also try sole after the oil pull , simple

and very effective therapy for me. Best buy for the salt I feel online is

Swanson. Also a effective therapy and reasonable is msm and flower of sulfur.

Good luck.

Hi HopeIs there any scientific proof that oil pulling really removes toxins? I want to try the oil pulling, but wonder how that works. I wonder if any toxicology reports have been done on the sputum to see what is removed. Thanks dear. Re: Oil pulling

, add a drop or two of clove essential oil to whatever oil you choose to

pull with. Great for the gums and general mouth health. I change the oil after

10 minutes to new oil, for another 10 minutes.

Hi MarieDo you know if the biofilm decreases as a result of oil pulling? I'm on day 2 of oil pulling. Tried olive oil--too bitter, this morning sesame oil. That was okay, but I think you or someone else here said coconut oil was good to use. We will see how it goes. Re: Oil pulling

Hi Jim,

I use coconut oil as a liquid as I really don't like the texture of solid

coconut oil in my mouth. I put the tub/bottle in some warm water for 2-3mins

then measure out a tbls and off I go. It seems easier in liquid form as you

say.

Oil pulling

When doing Oil Pulling, do you use one tablespoon of the coconut oil as a

liquid, after it is warmed up above 78 degrees or do you use one tablespoon of

the solid coconut oil that is below 78 degrees. I discovered there is more

liquid in my mouth if I put it in my mouth in the solid amount below 78 degrees.

It is easier to work with when it is a liquid. I do not want to waste any, but I

want to make sure I am using enough to do the job. Thanks, Jim K

Yes, I've been doing it for a couple of months. There's a little book on it you

can get by Bruce Fife (he wrote The Coconut Oil Miracle) and also a lot of info

online if you just google it. I can't attest to the toxin removal part for sure,

but I'm doing it for that reason. A year and a half ago my dentist, apparently

untrained in the proper way, removed my old amalgam fillings. I didn't have too

many, but I ended up swallowing bits and pieces, because they didn't take the

precautionary measures to prevent that. (I don't go there anymore.)

I use coconut oil for pulling; you can use pretty much any oil and I like the

taste of the coconut oil best. Other oils always taste pretty nasty/rancid to

me. I think it does a great job of freshening my breath, too.

>

> Has anyone every heard of Oil Pulling? I'm told you take a tablespoon of

Sesame oil, or Sunflower oil on an empty stomach first thing in the morning,

swish it around in your mouth for 20 minutes than spit it out and you'll have

pulled out mega toxins out of your body. Sounds to good to be true. Anyone

have any info on this?

Thanks for the info. I have looked at google and it just seemed to good to be

true, but I think I will give it a try. I don't think it could hurt. :-/

But how in the world could you keep the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes? I gag

with anything in there very long--I struggle to even swish my mouth with salt

water because I gag after such a short time!

I am 44. This past January, I had my first cavity--actually, they claimed I had

a bunch. Do multiple cavities come on that fast? Anyway, they filled them with

silver stuff--the white stuff was more, and the receptionist actually said her

teeth were more sensitive after having used the white stuff to fill her

cavities. Anyway, my teeth are horribly sensitive now. I'd gone in because

last year I hadn't had any cavities (this was my first time at this office in

January), but I had some irritation in my upper right jaw--not really pain, just

" weirdness " ! LOL! They ended up doing nearly all my molars on both sides, top

and bottom. Now I also have sensitivity that I have since heard goes away after

awhile. I hate cold or warm things in my mouth now.

Geez, Heidi, that sounds awful. I'm sorry you went through with that. I

think I'd have gotten a second opinion before letting them do that to my

mouth. The book, Cure Tooth Decay, by Ramiel Nagel, might be of help to

you, and certainly would have been before your fillings.

As far as the 20 minutes goes, it takes a little getting used to. To

start, just go as long as you can, then try again and continue for 20

minutes. It's fine to do it that way; it's just that you use more oil

that way. Try to keep your head slightly down to prevent it going into

the back of your mouth and making you gag; just keep swishing it in and

out between your teeth. And if a tablespoon is too much, start with a

lesser amount. Also, if you end up swallowing a little while pulling, it

won't hurt you. With practice, I think anyone can get it. For some

reason (I know not why), pretty much all my life since I was a kid (I'm

over 50 now), I practiced controlling my gag reflex. It sure came in

handy when I started popping handfuls of supplements as an adult!

BTW, I love your quotes.

I had to giggle about your " practicing controlling your gag reflex " --not because

I think that is bad, I just cannot even imagine understanding how you do that!

LOL!

Okay, I might try this...cannot hurt, right? Maybe with the coconut oil.

Remind me how this helps? My understanding (I came in late in the topic) was

that it is if you swallowed metal parts from fillings? Does this somehow

prevent you from losing more? Sorry...probably dumb questions.

Oil pulling is said to help detoxify the body. I'm also taking a couple

of forms of cilantro, which, I guess is a heavy metal chelator.

When I was a kid, on a summer day while sucking on an ice cube, I

accidentally swallowed it while it was still fairly big. I briefly

thought I was going to choke, but when I didn't, I paid attention to how

it felt going down. It felt cool going down (it was ice, after all), and

it felt funny swallowing something that big and not choking. I didn't

choke or gag at all. So I did it some more. That's how I practiced it. I

figured if I ever swallowed one too big, it'd just melt, so I didn't

think I could hurt myself. I graduated to trying it with small pieces

of food (a Cheerios, a pea), but, don't worry, I don't swallow my food

whole LOL. I like the ice better. When I got into supplements, I was

able to take them by the handful and swallow them in one swallow,

bypassing my gag reflex. Funny the things you remember all your life; I

remember that first ice cube. I actually still swallow them like that

sometimes. Maybe I'm a little weird. LOL

If you google oil pulling, you can find out lots of info and claims made

about it. There's even at least one YouTube video on how to do it (yeah,

I watched it). I don't see how it could hurt anyone in any way.

I have to take back what I said in a previous post when I said " I know

not why. " After a little thought, I guess I remembered why. Silly me.

Hi,

I've been doing oil pulling for about 7 months now. I can't say that it's

pulled out any toxins but I do like that it has whitened my teeth just a bit.

And my front teeth on the bottom were very sensitive at the gum line and that

has gone away. My teeth and mouth just feel better overall. Also, an added

plus is that I started using coconut oil and it must seep through and it made my

face oh, so soft. :D I've switched off using coconut oil and sesame oil. I

like both.

Doing it the first couple days was a little hard to get used to but no problems

after that. I actually pull for about 30 minutes since I do it while showering

and getting ready for work in the morning.

Try it. I won't hurt and it might help.

But how do you actually swish for 20-30 minutes without swallowing? I too

have a nasty gag reflex and can't imagine keeping anything in my mouth that

long.

My thoughts exactly ... I have the coconut oil and would consider

trying ... but not for 30 minutes, I would be lucky if I could do 2

.... and do you really get any benefit for that time?

You can swallow behind it, in your throat. Try using only a tsp of oil to start

and do it for however long you can. Or maybe try holding some water in your

mouth and swishing it around and you'll see how you can swallow in your throat

but keep the water in your mouth. Sorry, it's hard to explain. I don't know

that 30 minutes is better than 20. It's just how long it takes me to shower and

get ready and then I spit it out and brush my teeth. You do have to do it long

enough for your saliva to mix with it and it will change consistency. You can

feel when that happens and it won't be so oily anymore.

Go to www.oilpulling.org and read a little about it. There's also a video on

there you can watch. Some people have wonderful things happen for them. I'm

pretty healthy so I don't see any huge things happening but like I said in my

other post, I think it's helped my teeth and gums get stronger and less

sensitive.
