Hi all,

I'm Caroline, from Ontario, Canada. I just joined the group because I

found out my mom needs her knee replaced and I would like to find the

best surgeon/hospital for her that I can.

She is 80 years old, fairly active and in pretty good health. Because

of my own 4-5 years of researching hip doctors, techniques,

procedures, success/failure/infection rates, doctor experience and so

on before I had both my hips resurfaced, I realize the importance of

" doing your homework " before undertaking any major surgery. I would

hate so much to have anyone botch my mom's surgery and have her have

to go through pain and get it all done again (which a man she knows

just had happen to him when he had surgery with a long-time local

doctor).

She has an appointment with another local doctor who may be a

perfectly fine and good surgeon lol but I want to make absolutely SURE

first;-)

Ideally, I would love for her to have her knee done by my surgeon (he

has a zero failure/infection rate and his patients come from all over

Canada to see him), who resurfaced both my hips 2 years ago when I was

43, but he is about an hour and a half away from my mom and I don't

know if she would be willing to travel out of town for surgery.

He is in Hamilton, and my mom is just north of Toronto.

If any of you know of a good surgeon you could recommend I would

appreciate it very much.

Thank you,

Caroline
