Guest guest
Well people here do understand HOW much pain a bad hip (and I " m willing to bet knees, just don' t have that problem) really hurt. So yes, I just blow i t off and yes, living with pain is depressing, then the depression makes the pain worse..and it can be a vicious cycle indeed. judith In a message dated 9/10/2011 12:56:12 A.M. Yes, they want us to listen to them go on and on about nothing and I do but I have stopped or tried to stop complaining. I only ask for help when it is a have to situation and I'm not any better at it now than I was before the surgery. As soon as I could drive, 4 weeks, then I felt " myself " again. I had trouble with depression and I've decided that it is now much worse. I am cranky, tired, and in pain and none of that helps and I don't think the depression medication is working any longer. I just need to be able to DO something. I am just complaining.....that is what I am REALLY trying to do and I'm here typing out the complaints instead of telling someone in person. Oh, well, it is time to go to bed anyway. SherryHH ------------------------------------ Be your own advocate! The best patient is an informed patient! Guest guest
Judith knees are pretty awful too, and even more so, are shoulders. I have had them all replaced. -- Re: complaining and being dependent on someone Well people here do understand HOW much pain a bad hip (and I " m willing to bet knees, just don' t have that problem) really hurt. Guest guest
Judith, do you think you are the only one here who has experienced pain? We are here because we are all in the same boat. We have all been in terrible pain that led us to replace our parts and we all have post-surgical pain that is awful and have to do physical therapy that is grueling. Knee replacement is known to be one of the hardest surgeries and anytime you have your bones cut, it hurts badly. Actually even though my hips don't have arthritis, the years of walking with bone on bone knees took their toll on my hips and back and they are just getting back to something like " normal. " My solution for pain with my second knee surgery was to not fear the pain meds; instead of worrying about the addiction, I took 20 miligrams of Norco at a time, which enabled me to recover quicker and do my PT. 7 weeks later, I am now only taking 10 miligrams a day instead of 80. May you heal soon. > > Judith knees are pretty awful too, and even more so, are shoulders. > I have had them all replaced. > > > > > > > Well people here do understand HOW much pain a bad hip (and I " m willing to > bet knees, just don' t have that problem) really hurt. Guest guest
speaking of pain my achilles tendon stopped paining soon after i posted last evening and i actually felt better after having had PT on both Wed and Fri than i did while not having had it from last fFri to Wed (due to labor off off). I did not need any pain meds the past 24 hrs so that is progress but i expect now qnd rhen i WILL still need them here and there in the next weeks and months. So be it. i have to get up to use the bathroom twice as often as normal and i guess that has more to do with our waking up from a need to readjust our position tomreduce orvavoid pain and that wakes us up just long enough to cause us to sense we want to have an empty bladder so we cannot fall back to sleep until we get up and empty it. i I think all that bladder stuff is a double devious ploy by nature to get us to keep our post op body part moving and to help promote clotting prevention by tricking us to ave to getting up and about more, even at night. Guest guest
Where the hell are you coming up with that one anyway? In a message dated 9/10/2011 2:04:28 P.M. Guest guest
I came up with my comments because of a posting along the line of: she didn't imagine that people who had knee replacements experienced as much pain as people with hip replacements. When I read that, I thought OMG, all joint replacement is incredibly painful. > > Where the hell are you coming up with that one anyway? > > > In a message dated 9/10/2011 2:04:28 P.M. Guest guest
I asked a QUESTION of those who had had both surgeries, since I have heard that hips hurt more than knees before surgery, while knees hurt less before but more after surgery. How you get from THAT to challenging me with a rude comment about if I think I'm the only one in pain here is simply beyond me, especially since I've not said what my own pain level is, or even what the source is. Guest guest
I did not mean to be rude and I apologize if my comments were taken that way. I only wanted to clarify that we all hurt and that recovery and pre-op pain for all of us is really tough; that none of us would risk an artificial part if the pain wasn't intolerable. > > I asked a QUESTION of those who had had both surgeries, since I have heard > that hips hurt more than knees before surgery, while knees hurt less > before but more after surgery. > > How you get from THAT to challenging me with a rude comment about if I > think I'm the only one in pain here is simply beyond me, especially since I've > not said what my own pain level is, or even what the source is. > > > > I came up with my comments because of a posting along the line of: she > didn't imagine that people who had knee replacements experienced as much pain > as people with hip replacements.
