Guest guest
Well I'm over here in the " still stalling " corner for a variety of reasons, some good, some so-so...but an injection into the hip has really worked wonders on my right hip, which has no cartilage left (I could see that on the fluroscope myself even before the pain management guy came in.) Pain management can help you stall, but it's not going to cure anything. judith In a message dated 5/28/2011 9:59:18 P.M. Guest guest
I'm not looking at a lateral either...it's anterior or keep on moving. I like near ton SC, which has a ton of hospitals and co doctors, so there are some...well one did my pain doc's mom so I know at least one. I'm thinking the guy I talked to a couple years ago also does them, he did a year in Europe and most likely worked on it there...and he also said one night in the hospital, which sounds good to me. Guest guest
I hurt so bad before my hip replacement that to sit down it hurt so much that I would yelp out with pain........after two weeks, I did not require any pain meds. I do not mean to say that I bit the bullet and suffered. I had very little pain. I think I went into my recovery from a different direction from some. I had so much pain before my surgery that what I had afterwards was almost nothing compared to it. Good luck tomorrow with getting the process to your recovery started. Guest guest
I will NEVER regret having my hip replaced.  I was at the point where every step I took made me want to just sit down.  The pain in my hip made me have severe lower back pain (which left as soon as I had hip surgery and never returned).  Hiking was over, sitting hurt terribly.  I am totally pain free in my hip AND my back.  Everyday I wake up grateful that I have my life back.  I second the person that said the day after surgery hurt less than the day before.  Good luck to you....I suggest checking out all the options for surgery and go for it!! Guest guest
I was in the hospital for two days. The first week I was pretty drugged from the meds. Since I had an epidural the day after surgery was pain free. I was walking the next morning after surgery and continued to do so twice a day. My PT arrived the day after I got home and I began my home exercises pronto. The first week is the most difficult but the meds help alot. I slept and exercised and watched television and that was about it. You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. Joint Replacement From: jarcher107@... Guest guest
Judith, I have had two hip replacements, 2 years apart. It was a short hospital stay and then I went to rehab for 2 weeks. Not everyone goes to rehab, but I wanted to be where I would be taken care of, so it was right for me. Plus the aides put on those stupid stockings for you. I was off pain meds within a few days and back to work part time within a month, full time at about 6 weeks. For the first one I used a walker for two weeks and then a cane for one more. For the second one I was in much better shape and just used a cane for 2 weeks after surgery. At 6 weeks I had no restrictions and now do yoga and pilates. Unfortunately now my knees are gone and I have to get both of them replaced. The surgery keeps improving. Here is an example of the difference in two years. For the first one, I came out of surgery with a morphine pump, with my hip packed in ice. (I felt like a fish). For the second one, they wheeled me up to my room and then told me that the gurney won't fit through the door, so would I mind getting off and walking into the room? I knew that they were lying but I went along with it and walked in. Good luck to you.
