Hi had my hip resurfaced almost two years ago and i am an old dancer and

am doing fine. The fellow that teaches jazz class is a little older than

i am and he is having his second hip done by Matta's new partner,

Dr. Yun. Matta did his first and his recovery was fairly long but i do

not think it was due to the surgery....i have some questions since he is

all alone and i will be with him and hope to see his surgeon before the

surgery. Question one: He had a general before and had a rough time

with it. I read here on the board that some had a spinal with sedation..

would that be a better option for him.....Question 2 What type of closing

on the anterior hip replacement did they do? Glue, Staples or

dissolvable stiches and do you need to tell the surgeon ahead of

time.... two years

ago when he had his first one they would not let him shower for 2 weeks

which is absurd.....Also the pain after the spinal was it worse with

a general or spinal and for how long.....he has problems with vicodin

and other drugs.....he is a dance teacher and that is all he does for

a living and needs to get back as fast as possible....his results with

Matta for the first hip were slow but GREAT and this one i think he

should do a spinal and also dissolvable stitches since he would not have

to back to the doc for removable and also with the spinal i was so numb

for so long that i went from that to tylenol.....
