Guest guest
Seems good; I think the thing to compare besides the FFA levels is the handling; i.e. how long to the stabilisation step from the polishing step. Minutes to hours is best. Several factories now exist that stabilise rice bran, and they all produce a slightly different product with varying stability becausae they don't all have access to the same patented equipment. The companies with the best output have the best equipment to protect with a patent. So far, NutraCea is the top one I think. all good, Duncan > > Duncan, > While exploring google for fortified rice bran made to human levels, I found > this site. > > Something New in Rice Bran - Southern States > > Legends ® Pelleted Rice Bran is a new form of stabilized rice bran in a > pelleted form. ... from the rice milling process that makes white rice for > human consumption > http://www.southernstates.com/articles/eq/health/ricebran.aspx > > > I contacted the company and obtained a scan of the label showing nutritional > breakdown. Guest guest
Duncan, I went to the Nutracea site and they have 2 which seem to be rice bran (not counting the capsules). Hard to tell which one is the stabilized rice bran ..you recommend. Or are they both excellent? # RiSolubles <http://www.nutraceaonline.com/risolubles> # RiBalance <http://www.nutraceaonline.com/RiBalance> The site also speaks highly of Pelotas Rice Bran oil<http://www.nutraceaonline.com/PelotasRiceBranOil>. Would this be better than olive oil for salads? Or use both the rice bran oil and olive oil? Guest guest
Hi Alobar; Those rice bran products on the Nutracea site are food grade people food. NutraCea no longer sells horse feed at retail. The soluble products generally have most of the fiber removed, similar to RisoTriene from the Integris Corporation. Full brans are of course lower in carbohydrate and higher in fiber than solubles. I didn't give more than a passing glance to the people food; I bought their full-bran, full fat horse feed Satin Glo, now sold exclusively by Manna Pro and carrying the NutraCea logo. It may also be available as Satin Finish and Nutra-Glo in the USA. I like the attributes of rice bran oil generally but I'm not going to use such a high omega-6 oil. Too much inflammation and free radical damage. One company's rice bran oil analysis in percent: Palmitic C16:0 15.0 Stearic C18:0 2.0 Oleic C18:1 44.0 Linoleic C18:2 38.0 Linolenic C18:3 1.0 So, no, casual " exposure " aside, I wouldn't use RBO regularly instead of olive oil. Olive oil has a pretty good profile. If I switch out some of my milk fat and olive oil to reduce my monounsaturate intake I will use fractionated coconut oil to cook with; it's pretty much all medium chain saturated fat and it should be marvelous in salads. Anyone get any MCT oil yet? Where? all good, Duncan > > > > > > Duncan, > > > While exploring google for fortified rice bran made to human levels, I > > found > > > this site. > > > > > > Something New in Rice Bran - Southern States > > > > > > Legends ® Pelleted Rice Bran is a new form of stabilized rice bran in a > > > pelleted form. ... from the rice milling process that makes white rice > > for > > > human consumption > > > http://www.southernstates.com/articles/eq/health/ricebran.aspx > > > > > > > > > I contacted the company and obtained a scan of the label showing > > nutritional > > > breakdown. Guest guest
That other rice bran product sold by Manna Pro is Natural Glo, not Nutra-Glo. all good, Duncan
