Guest guest
Hi , Yes it sure is horrible. I am improving and the pain is much less since the surgery but, as you say, mobility is an issue. Not driving is the worst part for me also. No public transportation here either. I would do the same, take the sling off if just sitting around with the replacement, but the doc is really worried that I could do some damage without the sling it seems, so I'm just taking it off to sleep now. Glad new shoulder & hip doing good for you. Completely understand other shoulder still useless. Mine getting worse by the day. Take care, Jeff From: " maryanne.waspe1@... So long as you are seeing some level of improvement, say with pain, as mobility would still be an issue if you are in that sling still. the worst part was no driving for me, as we don't have any buses to hop on to. too rural here... I have to say when I was sitting down watching TV or reading I would take it out of the sling and rest it on a pillow. new shoulder is good, new hip good, old shoulder still useless and old hip so so.. phew oh the knee is perfect. x -- Re: reply to Hi , Getting better but mostly just frustrated. So much time in a sling the arm and shoulder are so weak that any movement hurts, but I guess a few more weeks and I'll be able to start building up some strength there. How is your shoulder & hip doing? Take care, Jeff ] ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Hang in there Jeff, it must be coming towards the end of your 6 weeks soon isn't it? Feels like ages any way. Guest guest
2 + more weeks for me. Right, then hard stuff starts. Don't mind that so much, it's not using arm, how weak it becomes that gets me. Guest guest
Hi , Yes it really does suck. And don't forget I was in the sling 6 weeks before the surgery, so it's been a really long time. All of those things that we take for granted, you're reminded several times a day that they are not to be taken lightly. I'm quickly losing whatever rom and strength that I had in my left as well. Right, I think the thing is just be thankful for the things that still work. Take care, Jeff From: " maryanne.waspe1@... Its silly things like getting dressed/showered, washing your hair, getting something from a higher cupboard etc. I still can't do any of those things with my right arm, I can't even clean down the benches.but am grateful that I can use my hand and wrist. -- Re: reply to Jeff 2 + more weeks for me. Guest guest
, wow, never again is right. That's just too long. And I thought I had a lot of time in this thing. I may get closer if I have to do the left but that's 1/2 the year. Ouch. Jeff From: " maryanne.waspe1@... Never again I hope. -- Re: reply to Jeff Hi , Yes it really does suck. And don't forget I was in the sling 6 weeks before the surgery, so it's been a really long time. Guest guest
Jeff, thank goodness it wasn't all 26 weeks at the same time, it was periodic. In the 12 months. You might find you have been in that thing longer than you think, with the time pre surgery then post surgery then add the other shoulder into it. !! probably best not to think about it LOL.... -- reply to Jeff Amen Jeff, that's absolutely right. with all mine done 18 months ago, I added up the total time, spent in the sling it was 26 weeks in the 12 month period. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I understood not all at once, but still it's a total of half the year. Scary. I'm going to have to hold off on the other shoulder for a while, give my body a break from the trauma. Jeff From: " maryanne.waspe1@... Guest guest
I think that's a very good idea, unless you are in so much pain, as that can be worse, as its so debilitating, You know if you can't sleep because of it etc that's also not too good. -- Re: reply to Jeff Hi , Yes, I understood not all at once, but still it's a total of half the year.
