my knee (other leg) is well overdue as I find now I have not got enough of a bend to get over the "twelve o'clock" point with the pedals. I have heard that after the knee op that there is a possibility of getting more bend in the knee than prior - I only need say 10 more degrees - it should be possible right??

Recovery time/progress it so individual no one can PROMISE - but by 4 weeks after TKR I was using the bike in PT - and I'm not a bike rider or used to dong any great amount of exercise, and I'm 65 - so if you have a decent surgeon and do the PT you should be OK

I've not had a hip done, just a knee, but everyone from the nurses to the surgeon say the knee is the hardest. Anyone out there whos had both?

Of course it is different with each person and with each operation, however

I believe that knees are recognised as the most difficult to get over.

With hips you are constantly moving. From sitting to lying, from lying to

standing etc so they get a good workout even if you have NO physio.

It is easy to avoid moving a knee.

You've heard the saying " Move it or lose it! " It is especially true of

knees.

I had both of my hips replaced in 2001 (left in January and right in July) and my left knee replaced in 7/07. Without a doubt, the knee is worse.Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.

mmm, that is what I don't want to hear. I have had my hip done and

it was really easy - back on my bike after 2 weeks and riding 50k

three

weeks later however, my knee (other leg) is well overdue as I find

now I have not got enough of a bend to get over the " twelve o'clock "

point with the pedals. I have heard that after the knee op that

there is a possibility of getting more bend in the knee than prior -

Hi Bill,

I'd have to vote for knee. I've spoken to men & women. People who

have had THR's TKR's, ACL's and given birth. All agree that the TKR

is the absolutely most painful surgery or medical procedure they have

experienced. That is not to say that the surgery isn't worth the

initial pain for those who truly need it. But in my opinion after 8

knee surgeries is that TKR wins hands down.

Best Regards,
