Hi Tina,

Welcome to the group. There are many wonderful people here who are willing

to share. I started making soap for my own use and lost my mind making so many

different fragrances and experimenting with different oils. Friends used to

leave my bathroom asking what was up with all the soap in there. I started

giving it to them and eventually they wanted to buy it. That's a good thing.

Talk to you soon.

Hello,

My name is

Marie, I’m 50 years old. I had a full right knee replacement in 2004. I

never really fully recovered from it, until about 3 months ago. My left knee

has decided to go bad. Thus my right knee has to pick up the slack. I’m

amazed at how much stronger the knee has gotten and how fast!

I have finished

a series of Orthvynsc injection for my left knee. Basically it feels like they

did nothing but inject water into my knee. No effect at all. The pain is so

bad I even made an emergency appt last week. It was surgery day so I got to

see the Physicians Assistant. All he could offer me was another cortisone

injection. HIP HIP Hooray. That worked like water too. I see my ortho doc next

Thursday. I’m telling him something needs done and needs to be done NOW.

I’m also

have a mild case of Bi-polar, which I’m taking medication for. Just to

give you perspective I’m done wait patiently and I tend to blow up when it's

not call for. One last thing, the cortisone shots send me into a major manic

attack. So for me to agree to the shot shows how much pain I’m in.

I’m glad

to be a part of this group.

Hi Marie,

Wow it took you that long to

recover huh? I had both of mine

done at the same time so I wouldn't have to go through another surgery.....little did I know what lay ahead... :o(

Good Luck

Sherry,

Yes, it's taken

that long to heal. I realize now I added to the problems by babying the knee a

bit to much. At this point I don’t care how long it takes the left knee

to heal (famous last words) I need out of this horrible pain.

Welcome, Marie,

I'm 44 and had a right TKR when I was 43. I had been in pain for about 5 years and my mobility was severely compromised by the time I had the surgery. I was lucky and had a great recovery and thrilled with my knee.

Would you be going to the same surgeon that did your first knee? I would make sure your PT prescription is better this time so your recovery would be faster and better.

Hi , thanks so much for writing about your 'successful' surgery. With mine looming in the near future, it's real nice to hear about some good results too! Hello Marie,

I know how you are feeling, been there for 3-1/2 years now. The

doctors tend to throw their arms up in the air and tell you " there

isn't anything else I can do for you " . I know I have heard that many

times from many doctors throughout my the 3-1/2 years. You have to

keep searching for the right doctor and eventually you will find the

one that has the answer or answers for you and is very compassionate

like I did. My doctor who is out of the University of Michigan

Health Care Facility in Ann Arbor, MI is fantastic. I will be having

my right knee replaced for the second time but this time I've very

optimistic about the outcome. I will spend 4 to 6 days in the

hospital and then go directly over to the rehabilitation facility

where I will stay for one to four weeks with physical therapists that

will work with me along with receiving help with my exercises. I

will have a CPM (constant passive motion machine) and when I am not

doing those things, I will have a splint on my knee.

I wish you the best Marie. Keep shopping around for the right

surgeon and hopefully you have the insurance to pay to go to

different doctors or have referrals to different ones. Don't let

them tell you that there isn't anything else they can do for you.

Please feel free to write to me anytime.

Regards,

from Michigan :-)

Hi ,

I had my right knee

replacement when I was 46. I did PT just like I was told and all. I had a

manipulation about 3 months out. After that I was able to ride the

exercise bike, do the stair stepper, etc. I also have Fibromyalgia,

which among other things, can cause the growth of excess scar tissue. This

is what happened to me. My knee was up to 122 degrees, I was doing

great. Then over the course of a 3 day holiday weekend I lost almost all

of it. My other said it wouldn’t do much good to keep doing

manipulation after manipulation.

I realize know

I also babied my knee. After that weekend I stopped all my home exercises,

pretty much stopped doing anything with my knee. As they say

hindsight is 20/20. I’m sure I could have regained some back if I

was persistent enough. I now have 90 degree function. My knee has

been very week, unable to do much with it at all. Since my left knee went

bad, my right has had to pick up the pace. The muscles have gotten

stronger, but I still only have 90 function. I can live with that.

I just want to

be out of constant pain. Surgery pain, though sharp and severe will only

last a few weeks. The pain I have now is unreal.

Last night I noticed what appears to be maybe a cyst or

fluid build up...hope the first

as having fluid drained is horrible.

I have an aversion to huge needles. I'd rather be put

under and have a cyst removed

than to have to go and have fluid

sucked out every week or so like

some people do...which is treating the symptoms not the

cause.

Stay tuned.

My first OS screwed up my right

knee by overfilling the femur with

cement. After 8 months the dried

cement had chewed up the prosthesis, the pain became unbearable.

My second OS ran every test there was and nothing showed up even on a metal reduction MRI. Finally he had to go in and

Walla , many small pieces of cement and a very chewed up

prosthesis that had to be replaced.

He was amazed none of it showed up on the MRI. I have

photos of it...YUK.

Well, I am now off to the OS to

see what in blazes is wrong with

the left one after almost 2 1/2 years.

The ortho doc I

see I trust very much. He’s a good Dr. He explained everything to me.

I am a very large woman. I point blank asked him if my problems (with right

knee replacement) were caused by my weight. He said no, the only thing my weight

would cause is the replacement to wear out faster. The build up the scar

tissue is caused by my fibromyalgia.

I see him on Thursday

for follow up on my left knee: how it responded to the Orthvynsc. As I have

stated in earlier posts, the shots did little if anything at all.
