Was talking with a friend last pm...

he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer...

is taking lots of vitamins from swanson...

he left me the empty bottles...

they seem to be highly processed and the large

amount of fillers and additives is astounding...

mg stearate

microcrystaline cellulose

croscarmelose sodium

stearic acid

silica

gelatin

it seems to me that one coiuld take a lot less tabs or caps per serving if they

were not so full of this junk which is of dubious value...at least ot anyone

except the mfr....

Does anyone have any thoughts on these?... I did some research and they seem to

be GRAS = generally regarded as safe...but some impair t-cell production and

some have inhibiting effects on absorption by the body...

Thanks in advance for your comments...my bias is of course (lol) more in an

herbal direction...

with far less processing and no additives...

I worry about that too Don but they all pretty much have those fillers and

capsule shells. Not sure but I think the shells may have the most worrisome

ingredients. I've tried emptying them in liquids but often it's difficult to

disguise the bad taste of some. Swanson's does have a Green Max product, though,

that contains LOTS of phytonutrients derived from natural sources. You can check

the ingredients against what your friend is taking and maybe this would provide

a safer alternative:

Also, they have a Whole Food Multi that's chewable with no cellulose shell:

I use both of the above.
