Goldie,

Talking to others who have been through the surgery already always helps. We

were all nervous before our surgery also, so that is normal. Get your home and

some helped lined up. The more prepared you are the easier it will make life

for you after you return home. Also ask all the questions you need to

beforehand so you know what to expect. This group is a great source of

information. We are here for you before and after you have your surgery.

You know, when I first talked with the hip guy a couple years ago, he gave

me this book about hip replacement surgery that seemed oddly familiar...I

finally recognized it as " Dick and Jane Get A Hip Replacement. " Seriously,

that's just about what it was, and that totally cracked me up when I

thought about it. (And most folks old enough to be replacing hips are also old

enough to know what I " m talking about.)

My Doctor said the new hips rarely pop out they have improved over the years. I

had my right hip done 5 years ago and it was definitely the right choice. I am

having my left hip done next week. I too get shooting pains down to my knee, I

am assuming that bone on bone is pinching some nerve. I will let you know how

things turn out.
