I am planning possible TKR with one of the doctors mentioned in THIS ARTICLE

- pretty upsetting!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/22/business/22device.html?pagewanted=1 & _r=1

The doc I am seeing is Dr. Coon. This doesn't mean he isn't a good TKR doc.

It just means that his relationship with the companies who make implants is

" complicated " . I just received my surgery packet containing all the lab

requests and forms to be filled out by my PCP, but it also contains THREE

brochures from Zimmer. I know that Zimmer is the most likely implant to be

used on me, I am female and have typical female knee problems - but I now

wonder if there are other options which would be better...you just never

know the whole story.

But we've heard such wonderful things about Dr. Coon, just discuss it

with him. He can't be so successful and use a poor prothesis.

I find this article to be comforting rather than upsetting. I'm

noticing the best surgeons are getting the most money. For hip

surgeons, Dr Edwin Su in NYC is fabulous and he's getting some money

from and Nephew, even Dr. Ferro in San Obispo is getting a

little bit from them....but it seems the better the doc the higher

the pay.

Since I had two hip resurfacings with Dr. Gross and am familiar with

the best docs, it was gratifying to see that my surgeon, Dr. Gross

made over $500,000 one year and over $850,00 the next from Biomet. I

think he deserves this since he helped design the device and travels

the world teaching how to do resurfacings with it (like Brazil). He

also has made a DVD to teach surgeons how to use the Biomet device.

He works so hard and long.

So I'm happy to see Dr. Coons got a decently high amount of money for

being a designing surgeon on the Zimmer knee. He also teaches others

how to use the device for that dough.

You can make yourself crazy with situation. I finally went with the

recommendation of my transplant surgeon. I trust him. I asked who he would

send a family member to.

So far I am happy, but even if I am not, it does not necessarily mean he is

not good. Too many other factors

Lynn,

I am so sad to hear of your suffering, but glad that you express it. It sounds so familiar to what I went through, and probably is familiar to so many others. In the months of my greatest crisis, I started cursing more than I ever have in my life, and entered the most emotionally unhealthy state of my adult life.

.. . . But things did get better. I needed time and had take more drastic measures - moving, eliminating all carpets, keeping the apartment exposed UVC bulbs running for most of the day, showering 3-4 times per day - many of the things that you are doing, but some that you haven't done yet. Some things may less work/stressful yet more effective for you - when you discover them, you will stick with them and save yourself some of the labour involved with battling this infestation.

I'm nervous to visit family this weekend because some of them are carriers of this thing, but I remember that the struggle I have is much much less than it was a year or two ago, and much much less than what you are now dealing with.

Things aren't perfect, but 80% better. I want you to get there. I don't want you to get worse. You can get better.

Hi AllHave many new bites head to toe. Late this afternoon I had crawling cover me. After I did my shower routine I put on extra protection. Doing okay so far. I also sprayed the bed down fairly good this evening just to be safe. I think I figured out what I am doing wroung. Dang it all I had bread for four days in a row and than Had my one coffee of the week today. I also had cut back on 1 drinking of 4 herb tea this week while I was sick. It was so hard for me to squeeze in 4 different times to drink 4 herb tea along with all the other herbs I strew throughout the day. Well I made darn sure I am drinking 4 today. Might even take an extra dose of Collidal Silver for just tonight. Try to give myself a break while I wait for the sugar levels to drop out of my system so the stinken demon bugs will die down again. Dang I want to cuss like a sailor so badly. So mad that I can not get away with anything even for a short time. I was

eating bread because my diarreah was like water and my stomach was to weak to hold much down. So I had bread at least twice a day. With the diarreah so much like water that I figured the bread was leaving as fast as it went in. Today after 4 days this is the first day that the water runs is starting to dissapear. Also eating other foods today instead of just bread and Pistachios. I have caught a few specks flying about today and more tonight. I have had tons of white flakes in my underwhare again. I had that almost gone. One day I had just two or three flakes out of the underwhare for the whole day. Now I feel like I am right back whare I started before starting the second part of the points program. On the possitive. I can say that had I gotten sick without the parts plan inacted. The swarm would have been huge and overwelming and way worse than what I have right now. So I know the program is protecting me through my own mistakes. I had cut

back on the esp body balm becuase it was going so fast. I guess my skin really sucks in the moisture of anything I use. My skin has not had the same level of protection it did when I was using the body balm twice a day. I am trying to use the coconut oil in place of it. I need whats left of the esp body balm for my rear and privates at night in bed. It helps slow down the masses. I was so desperate I squeezed out of our tight budget from the www.herbalhealer. com wormwood tincture and the bug block spray. Says it repels up to eight hours. I don't know how in the el I am going to squeeze in another dose of herbs amoung all I take. I have too and it can be done, but it leaves no stinkin time to take care of other things. So sick and tire of spending all my waking hours fighting. While sick my emotions ran the rampart. If God is willing some day I am going to start a service that packages and mails product or funds products for all mites, mold, and

morgallens sufferers. What ever is out there and does not get any funding for support from government or doctors. Well I am going to support it. I am so pissed off. Tired of being scared, tired of being attacked. Tired of fighting. Had a friend drop by for a visit and I was so exhausted that I kept nodding off while hubby visited his friend and than I had to excuse myself to go do my shower routine. Could not even stay for the visit or even awake for the visit. When I baby sit the kids and I love having them hear all that I can get. But by dinner I can hardly wait for them to leave so I can be free to do the bigger chores of keeping up with this battle. I am so ANGRY. I really wish God would get here and end the whole world. Truely that is not the answer but I just want God to destroy it all becuase that means those dam bugs will be gone too.In Light Lynn

Hi Lynn,

Sometimes a change in the weather makes the bugs go wild. It took me a very

long time, about two years, of continuous daily effort before my skin felt

normal again, so please continue your efforts. I know that it often feels like

no progress is being made, but you will eventually prevail as long as you keep

pressing forward. I could only measure my progress in months, not days or

weeks. It is a slow process to get healthy again.

Aloha,

Lynn, I believe others may be carriers of the mites, although they do not get lesions and suffer as we do. This is what makes it so difficult to get rid of. Getting "re-infected" by our environment and those around us. I, too, suffered a setback after several good days with minimal biting, stinging, itching, etc.. If you are not diligent about your treatment protocols, you suffer. I hope and pray for an end to our suffering.

Tame,

I am hoping you will hear good news from ish Rite. As far as how long between appts, I am not sure. We have always gone every 3-6 months. But is older....how is again? Not sure if that maks a difference.

Try not to worry and just keep a close eye on his back. Keep us posted on ish Rite. usually goes to the ortho every 4 to 6 weeks for an xray and apt usually resulting in a brace adjustment to combat a curve. Our ortho was on vacation and we had to delay his apt to oct 14 making it 9 weeks. The office called and reschuduled us for nov 3rd which makes the longest stretch ever between appointments. His back looks decent without the brace... It's not straight but there isn't a hump. His rib looks aligned too.... Think it's okay to go a couple extra weeks? Yikes. It makes me nervous. We don't really have a choice I guess. I try not to worry.... But if we don't hear good news this week from ish rite and he has to stay in a brace I don't want his back going unchecked that long. I think he's growing again and getting taller. His upper curve is the one we are most worried about so if he's getting taller and his brace doesn't go that high it isn't good. What do u guys

He usually goes in every 4 to 8 weeks. If he has a brace adjustment- which he has had the last 3 or 4 times, then the doc likes to see him again in 4 weeks to see if the revision is doing it's job. He termed it "unacceptable" last visut and had us go back again. That's when he mentioned casting -but risser, and why this whole Mehta thing started again. is 3 1/2. But he's growing so fast I think it's hard to keep his brace just right. He is on his 3rd brace in a year and a half. Insurance questioned the last one. I decided not to worry. I'll just watch his back with one eye. We've been doing more physical activities with him to exercize his muscles. He has low tone but it must not be that bad. His little calves are rock hard. They used to be squishy. He's starting yoga again at preschool so that should help a little too. Today a mason we found in Texas called the social worker contact at scottish

rite. I keep hoping things were delayed for a reason and it will all work out.:) :) :) maybe it won't - either way my hands are tied and I'm taking a mental break from it all. I'm running a bookfair at school this week and trying to relax and enjoy the sunshine with the kids.Don't worry Wednesday is looming closer and I'll keep u posted!TSent from my iPhoneOn Oct 11, 2010, at 9:33 PM, Tasha Fontenot <ryanswalk@...> wrote:
